MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Kansas State head football coach Bill Snyder announced Wednesday a list of 29 student-athletes who have committed to be part of the Wildcat program next fall. The list includes 18 incoming freshmen, seven community-college transfers and three freshmen who have begun their first full-time semesters in the Spring of 2004.
"As has been the case each and every year, the true quality of this class will not be determined for a couple of years when each of these young men will have had the opportunity to mature into and become more familiar with our program," said Snyder. "However, this appears to be a talented group of student-athletes, all of whom seem to be quality young men with a competitive desire to contribute to the continued success of Kansas State football. They also appear, to a man, to have a genuine concern for their own academic successes."
Snyder also indicated that he was pleased with the position breakdown of the class as K-State appears to have filled needs in a variety of areas, especially on the offensive line.
"We were pleased with the scholarship distribution by position, being fortunate to gain commitments from nearly exact numbers needed at each and every position," said Snyder.
The class consists of 16 offensive players, 12 defensive players and one specialist. Seven of the newcomers are already enrolled in classes at Kansas State and will participate in spring drills.
