Wildcats in 16th after one round at Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational
Mar 21, 2004 | Women's Golf
AUSTIN, Texas Playing against a Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational field that includes nine teams ranked in the top 25, the 33rd-ranked Kansas State women’s golf picked a bad time to shoot its worst round of the year as the Wildcats carded a combined 341 Sunday and sit in 16th place heading into Monday’s second round.
K-State, which has finished in the top three in 6-of-7 tournament this year, was not the only team to struggle with a par-72 Hills Country Club course that yielded no sub-par scores during the opening day of play. Vanderbilt’s Chris Brady shot the first round’s low score, carding an even-par 72 to pace the field. In the team race, host school
Senior Christine Boucher was the only Wildcat to post a score in the top 35, shooting a 9-over 81 to tie for 31st. Sara Heffel is tied for 49th after firing an 83, while Stephanie Limoges is tied for 75th aft3er shooting an 88. K-State’s final counting score came from Karen Quintelier, who shot an 89 and is tied for 79th.
