The 20th Annual Catbacker Auction

Hey Wildcat Fan!

This is your official invitation to “Stand Up for the Champions” and attend an evening of fun and festivities. The 20th Annual Catbacker Auction will be held on April 30, 2004 in Bramlage Coliseum with the festivities beginning at 5:30 p.m. A “Championship”meal will be served at 6:15 p.m., and the always exciting live auction will commence at 7:45 p.m. Plan to come early and stay late. . . . I personally guarantee you will have a great time!!!

This booklet includes your auction registration form, a list of live auction items, dinner menu, and a schedule of events. The registration deadline is APRIL 23rd. A Championship theme was selected for this year’s festivities honoring K-State’s Big 12 Champion teams: volleyball, football and women’s basketball. Plan to bid on several exciting trips to places such as the Amazon, the British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts, and Puerto Vallarta in the Live Auction! The silent auction will feature approximately 250 of the best items ever assembled for this event. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for more than 350 student-athletes at Kansas State.

Again, this year, a committee of creative and dedicated individuals are working very hard to ensure that this year’s event is the most successful event yet! A BIG THANK YOU TO EACH OF THEM.

Not only will you have a fantastic time at the auction, plan to spend an afternoon “catching some rays” while tailgating and watching Wildcat Football at the annual Purple and White Spring Game. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, May 1st at 1:10 p.m. The baseball team will complete the day with a 4:00 game vs. Baylor. 1. AN AUCTION TRADITION

The auction tradition continues and in an even more dramatic fashion!!! The Vanier family has donated three individually hand crafted leather director’s chairs. Each chair will commemorate one of Kansas State’s 2004 Big XII championships; football, volleyball and women’s basketball. At the successful buyer’s direction, the head coach will autograph their sport’s chair. Remember, these are “one of a kind” chairs so come prepared to keep the collection together. 6. CHARTER BUS TO SEE THE WILDCATS VS. THE BUFFS (November 13th)

47 Wildcat fans will have the opportunity to board a beautiful Arrow Stage Lines charter bus to enjoy the trip to Colorado under the guidance of a professional driver. Plan to travel on Friday to Longmont, Colorado, where as a buyer’s option, rooms have been reserved in the team hotel. These rooms at the Raintree Plaza Hotel will be the buyer’s responsibility at $109 per double room. Saturday, your party will be escorted to the game with the bus ready to return to Kansas following the game. 7. FLY FISHING FOR TWO ON THE BIG HORN RIVER IN MONTANA

Alumnus Bob Tointon will act as host for two days of fly fishing on the internationally famous Big Horn River in Fort Smith, Montana. Two lucky fishermen will stay in a private club’s log lodge on the river’s bank six miles downstream from Yellowtail Dam. The brown and rainbow fishing is fabulous in the thirteen miles of tail water below the dam. Bob is providing a professional fishing guide, meals, lodging and private plane travel from Greeley to Fort Smith and even promises a wonderful selection of Joseph Phelps wines for the “catch celebration.” Purchaser will work with Bob for a mutually agreeable date. All bow hunting is from tree stands while the rifle hunter will be using tree stands or ground blinds. All processing or taxidermy costs will be the purchaser’s responsibility. You and your friend will stay in a new fully furnished lodge with all the comforts of home. Meals are the responsibility of the hunters, but kitchen/cooking facilities are available at no charge.
