Balanced Attack Leads No. 16 Cats to 3-0 Sweep of Bison

Five different Wildcats hit .300 or better and four of those had five or more kills, led by Martin and Werner. Michaela Franklin had seven kills on .400 hitting, while Joy Hamlin hit .364 with five kills. Martin hit .562 on the evening and also collected a team-best five blocks, while Werner hit .348 with five digs. Freshman libero Angie Lastra had her 10th straight 10-plus dig performance after picking up 15 digs in Thursday’s win.
Freshman setter Stacey Spiegelberg saw extensive playing time for the first time in her K-State career, finishing with 24 assists, two blocks and seven digs in a little over two games. Senior Gabby Guerre finished with seven assists and five digs in one game.
After the Bison grabbed an early lead in game one at 3-0, K-State went on a 12-3 run to take a 12-6 advantage. The Wildcats never looked back as they took a 20-9 lead behind the serving of Katie Stanzel to take control of the game. A Joy Hamlin kill sealed the game and gave the Cats a 30-16 win. K-State hit .429 while holding the Bison to -.024 hitting.
Game two would be much of the same as the Wildcats took a 12-3 lead behind kills from Martin, Hejjas and Werner. The lead stayed at double digits for most of the game and K-State clinched game two at 30-16 after kills from Franklin and Werner. Again,
