1994 (senior): Finished the season 11th in the Heisman Trophy voting... Named first-team All-American by the NFL Draft Report and honorable menti on All-American by UPI and Football News... Was a finalist for both the Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Davey O'Brien Award... Named ESPN's Player of the Game against Kansas and Colorado ... After completing eligibility, he held 10 Big Eight records... Completed 200-of-337 passes (59.4%) and broke his own school record with 18 touchdown passes... Threw just six interceptions in his 337 attempts for an average of one interceptions every 56.2 passes... Led the Big Eight in passing yards for the second-consecutive year and had the top two passing efforts in the league with 379 yards at Kansas and 358 at Colorado ... Completed better than 50-percent of his passes in nine of 11 games and bettered the 60-percent mark in five games... Completed at least 30 passes to five different receivers to become one of a few quarterbacks in NCAA history to accomplish feat... 1993 (junior): Led the Wildcats to a 9-2-1 record on the year and the program's first ever bowl victory after K-State finished 5-6 and sixth place in the Big Eight just one year prior... Helped K-State finished in the final top 20 in national rankings for the first time ever... Completed 19-of-28 passes for 275 and two touchdowns in a 52-17 victory over Wyoming in the Copper Bowl... Consensus choice as the Big Eight Newcomer of the Year and earned first-team All-Big Eight honors from the league coaches... Had a dream season statistically by setting four Big Eight records and throwing for the third-most yards in Big Eight history (2,682)... Completed 185-of-350 passes for 2,682 yards, which was a new Kansas State season record, the third-highest total in Big Eight history, the second-highest total in Big Eight history for an 11-game season and the most ever by a junior quarterback in Big Eight history... Broke virtually all of Lynn Dickey's passing record at Kansas State ... Set a Big Eight record for highest average yards per attempt (7.66) and another Big Eight record with a streak of having thrown at least one touchdown pass in 11-consecutive games... Riddled the Nebraska defense with a Big Eight record 489 yards on 30-of-51 completions... The 489 passing yards were the most ever given up by Nebraska while the 565 yards of total offense K-State amassed in that game was the second-highest total allowed by Nebraska in the Tom Osborne era... Set a new Kansas State season record with 2,492 yards of total offense, which also ranks seventh in Big Eight history... Also set a K-State season record with 16 touchdown passes... Against Colorado , drove the Wildcats from their own 20 to the Colorado 18 to set up Tate Wright's game-tying field goal with 21 seconds left... The drive included a scrambling 44-yard completion to Kevin Lockett on fourth down and 15... In the season finale against Oklahoma State , drove the Wildcats 80 yards in 41 seconds with no timeouts, capped by a two-yard touchdown pass to Brad Seib for a 21-17 win in Stillwater ... Given the time from and the fact that K-State was out of timeouts, Bill Snyder called it the greatest last minute drive he had seen in his career... Threw 10 of his conference leading 16 TD passes in Big Eight play... In three-consecutive weeks, he put up the following numbers when K-State became the first team to go at last .500 against Nebraska , Oklahoma and Colorado since the Buffs returned to national prominence in the mid-1980s: 60-of-114 for 965 yards and six touchdowns, for an average of 321.7 passing yards against ranked teams... Threw for at least 200 yards in nine games... Also rushed for seven touchdowns during the regular season.
1992 (sophomore): Sat out after transferring from Cal State Fullerton ... Won the Red Raider Award for outstanding redshirt... Won the starting quarterback job in the spring and completed 19-of-29 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns in the 1993 spring game.
Cal State Fullerton (1991 freshman): Won the starting job in the third game of the season and guided Fullerton to a 17-10 win over Cal State Northridge... Completed 97-of-233 passes (41.6%) on the year for 1,066 yards... Threw four touchdowns and nine interceptions... Best game came in the season finale when he led the Titans to a 37-6 win against Long Beach State by completing 16-of-26 passes for 213 yards... Threw the game winning touchdown pass of 13 yards with 38 seconds left in the game... Completed 15-of-28 passes for 128 yards against Utah State ... Went 13-of-29 for 125 yards against New Mexico State ... Longest completion was 43 yards and also rushed for one touchdown.
High School: Led Damien High to the CIF quarterfinals in 1989... Completed 126-of-254 passes for 1,801 yards and 12 touchdowns at a senior... Earned all-league, all-city and All-San Gabriel Valley honors...Played for Dick Larson... Also earned all-league honors as a shortstop on the baseball team, hitting .489 as a senior... Honor roll student.
