Kansas State snaps 20-year skid at Missouri, 64-53
Jan 29, 2005 | Men's Basketball

COLUMBIA, Mo. Jeremiah Massey scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half and Kansas State ended 20-years of frustration in Columbia with a 64-53 victory over Missouri Saturday night at Mizzou Arena.
The victory, K-State’s first at Mizzou since March 2, 1985, also gave the Wildcats their first season sweep over the Tigers since the 1983-84 campaign.
And the Cats could not have done it with out Massey, who for the second straight game produced a huge second half to help guide the Wildcat to victory.
In Wednesday’s win over Iowa State, the senior poured in 19 of his game-high 23 points after intermission. Tonight, the Detroit product tallied all but two following halftime.
Fred Peete added 17 points and Columbia native Lance Harris kept Kansas State (13-4, 3-3) in the game early, scoring 11 of his career-high 14 points in the first half.
Jimmy McKinney led Missouri (10-10, 2-5) with 14 points, but was held scoreless for the final 17 minutes of the game. Linas Kleiza was the only other Tiger to finish in double digits with 11 off the bench.
Kansas State led 28-26 at intermission after clawing out of a huge first-half hole that saw Missouri jump out to a 12-0 lead.
But just like the opening period, the Wildcats struggled out of the gate early in the second half. Missouri used a 14-0 run to take a 40-28 advantage just four minutes into the second half and it looked like the streak would continue.
Massey, though, was not about to allow that to happen, as he finally caught fire and scored six of the Cats’ next 13 points as Kansas State knotted the game at 43 on a 3-pointer by Clent Stewart with just under 10 minutes to play.
Kansas State went ahead for good on Massey's put-back tip-in with 7:15 to play. The 6-foot-7 senior scored eight of the Wildcats' final 17 points and K-State out-scored the Tigers 21-10 over the final nine minutes first its Big 12 road win of the season.
