On the play of OU...
“It was a good win and it is really great to get started in Big 12 Conference play. Kansas State is always a difficult team to play. They really do a lot offensively and they are very creative. It was good to have extra time on them. They are great in how they create extra seams and what they do with their run game. It was good to get a win against a team that is good year in and year out. I thought we made good progress from last week and this week I thought we grew as a team. I was pleased how we played the first half. For the most part defensively in the first half we were excellent and in special teams created field position. I would have liked to have had a few more points off of the field position but we did take care of the football and put up 19 points in the first half. I liked the way we played that way.” “In the second half I thought offensively we continued to do some good things in running the ball. I was a little disappointed though I thought we were a little sloppy defensively in some areas in the second half. We still need to correct some of those mistakes. At times we would bust some things on our own and allow them to take advantage of us. We still can grow a little bit there and play a little smarter in some areas. Also, I was really pleased with our special teams overall.”
On OU’s defense...
“We did a good job I think overall. Our defensive tackles and defensive ends did an excellent job up front. Even when we weren’t blitzing they were bothering them and making them start to run. They made some plays on the run, but that is going to happen. Some of our pressure got to them and we made them hold the ball a little longer to get to them.”
On his team going into the Texas game...
“I feel like we have made some good progress. I like the fact that the players feel it and have some life in them. They are excited and realize that this is a big week and a huge game in the Big 12 South. We feel good and will work hard this week. We have a great opportunity to go down and win. That is what we are always shooting for and we will be ready to go after it. We respect them and know that they are an excellent football team. We feel like we are making great strides, too, and traditionally have matched up well with them. ”
