Head Coach Bill Snyder
On the
“First and foremost they are wonderful people and it’s a cherished relationship that goes far beyond the dollars and cents. Dear friends, loyal, friends of mine, friends of the university I’ve been here for going on 17 years and I think the relationship has been prominent throughout that entire time. I think they’ve always been there for the university, for the athletic program, for our football program throughout the entirety of my tenure here. They are special, caring, down to earth people. I’m grateful obviously but as I told Jack this morning, I’m most grateful for the friendship that we have and with the entirety of the family.”
On this year’s TTU receivers and quarterbacks fitting the mold of years past...
“I certainly think so. They have some of the same receivers.
On preparing for this type of offense year round...
“You have to. In preparation from a coaching standpoint, you do during the summer months, during the off-season months, and in spring practice time. You spend some time preparing for it on the practice field and during your 29 preseason practice days you’ll spend some time with this and other opponents as well.”
On the uniqueness of TTU’s offense...
“There are other great offenses out there year in and year out. Whatever the system happens to be, if you have a strong belief in it and if its sound, and if your players have a strong belief in it, then in all likelihood it will be functional. That’s the thing when you say Texas Tech’s offense is unlike any other, you hit the nail on the head. When you talk about four receivers running plus a back or running pass patterns you can’t invent anymore pass patterns. They’re all out there and football has been going on too long. The schemes they run are pretty consistent and you’ll find them in other programs. What you don’t find is the uniqueness in the spacing between their offensive linemen. One of the things that helps them so much is that they have a package and they work that package and they work it against everything. Their preparation, whatever it is we are going to do, they’ve seen it time and time and time again. I’m confident that they work on virtually everything that they could see week in and week out and they get better and better and better at it because they get more repetitions.”
Freshman Quarterback Allan Evridge
On his performance against
“I played alright. There’s definitely room for improvement. But I’m going to try to focus on those things that I didn’t do right. I feel that I did an alright job.”
On feeling more comfortable with experience...
“I definitely feel more comfortable. Anytime you get out on the field and get actual game-type reps, you get acclimated to not only keeping track of the play clock, but the many other things that you have to do. It’s becoming easier and easier.”
On how Allen Webb is handling the quarterback situation...
“Allen and I, we talk. We always try to get better He’s a great athlete, a great competitor. So I’m sure whatever happens, he’ll be alright. We’re both in each other’s corners.”
Junior Running Back Thomas Clayton
On the injuries on the offensive line...
“We’ve had some injuries, so a lot of guys have had to step up immediately. But by the same token, they should have been ready from the beginning, because they practice everyday. They went into this knowing that there’s a possibility that they could play at any given time. I think they’re shaping up.”
On if he’s frustrated by the lack of room to run...
“Absolutely. But like I said, I’ve struggled at running back. We’re confident that things will shape up. I’m real confident and positive in that, and I know we’ll get it together.”
Senior Fullback Victor Mann
On how K-State can be successful against
“Mainly if we just do everything we are capable of doing we should be fine. Our main goal right now is to stay on the field as much as possible and keep Texas Tech’s offense on the sideline. That’s the only way Texas Tech scores points is when they are out there on the field. If we can come out and have a high powered offense on Saturday, that will help out our defense a lot. I have a lot of confidence in our defense and I believe that they are going to go out there and play lights out like they have been doing in the past.”
On the upcoming game against
“I know they are going to have some crazy fans out there; my dad played at Texas Tech. This is a big game for me because I lived in
