Head Coach Bill Snyder
On coming up short...
“What’s the old saying too little too late? That’s probably the deal. If you do silly things and beat yourself up, you can’t win that way not against good football teams.”
On
“We had a little trouble with some of the option stuff but that’s what they do. Their deal is that they’ve gone to a little different offense and I think they’ve done a nice job with it. They utilize their personnel very well. Because there’s so much movement before the snap of the ball it changes who the dive back is and changes who the pitch man is. You’ve got to have somebody on all of them so you get confused once in a while or you can and from time to time, and we did. It’s a good offense and they’ve got the right guy to do it Reggie McNeil is an extremely talented young man.”
On missed opportunities in the third quarter...
“It goes back to the same thing that we talked about last week. We had our opportunities and could not take advantage of them and that falls back (on the coaches).”
On the late come back...
“I’m proud of our football team. It’s not all gloom and doom. I thought there were some positive things that took place at the end in regards to our football team coming back. I thought they fought back and didn’t give up. That’s significant and important for a team that’s had three losses, at least for us. I’ll take some solace in that to a certain degree.”
On Allan Evridge’s play...
“He really did some good things. He was kind of up and down during the course of the ball game. He made some throws that could have made a difference in the outcome of the ball game. Collectively and for a young guy that is really trying to feel his way around, I thought he played well. He had more opportunities in this ball game than he’s had at any particular point in time. We threw the ball more so he was more in command. There was less balance in the offense because of falling behind and having to throw it a little bit more but I thought he did a nice job with that. He was inaccurate a few times but that is supposed to be expected.”
On the defensive effort...
“We played well enough defensively to win. The tough one was the drive after the kickoff unit pinned them down on the four yard line. The 96-yard drive - that was the one that was tough.”
On the running attack...
“I’m not so sure that we couldn’t have run the ball better today. I really believe we could, but the game got away from us quick enough and all of the sudden we were having some opportunities in the passing game. The manner of the game changed a little bit. I think going back even though we didn’t run it necessarily well, if we could get on schedule a little better we could have run it a lot better.”
