Head Coach Dennis Franchione
On the game...
“It was a great football game. We just found a way to make one more play on the road. I think our defense did some great things today. (
On his team’s offensive performance...
“I don’t think you go into a game thinking you’re going to get those kinds of results. You go into the game thinking you’d like to find a way to get a 100-yard rusher. I thought we would be able to throw the ball a little better than we did. (K-State’s) secondary was good. They play good pass defense. They had a tough week last week, but against everyone else they’ve played pretty good. I wouldn’t have sat at home on Friday and predicted us to have two guys with around 100 yards on the ground.”
On his team’s game plan...
“We just have to execute our game plan. We had some things that went good for us. I don’t know if the run would have been good in the fourth quarter if we wouldn’t have mixed it up in the second and third quarter. Sometimes we do things earlier in the game that allows you to run the ball at the end of the game. We had to keep their secondary back a little bit, and had a couple of ideas on how to do that. I thought one of our lapses was when we drove the ball on the first drive of the second half and didn’t get any points out of it.”
On K-State quarterback Allan Evridge...
“I think he’s a good young quarterback. I think he’ll be really good, and am already excited about playing him again when he’s a senior.”
On A&M’s five-game winning streak against K-State...
“I didn’t have anything to do with the first three. They’ve got a great football coach here. He’s done great things here. He’s done things for this program that nobody else has ever done. There’s probably not another coach out there that could do what he’s done here. There’s going to be some ups and downs in a program.”
