On his thoughts about the game...
“They always play a physical game, but I think when we look at it and analyze the game, we did a lot of things wrong today. Defensively and offensively, we just didn’t execute the way we know how.”
On what Allen Webb brought to the game...
“He brought a lot of versatility to the game. He was able to scramble a little bit and get through the cracks and things that the other quarterback couldn’t do. I think what he did was he opened the offense up a little bit more and spread us out a little bit more. Keeping on the quarterback and the tailback was a difficult task.”
Sophomore Tailback Marcus Woods
On if
“Today, especially, I think everyone stayed focused. Like I said, it was pretty much the mistakes that killed us. I started to feel uncomfortable once they scored their first touchdown in the second half because they started to gain momentum.”
On continuing the streak of losing at KSU...
“It seems like the most amazing things happen to us on the road. They made some amazing plays.”
On what mistakes his team made during the game...
”The mistakes are pretty much the turnovers. They’re game-changing. We always focus and we know preparation is key, and today especially. But we came in here unprepared and not focused.”
Junior Wide Receiver Brad Ekwerekwu
On losing a close game...
This one leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. I’m still in shock. I don’t know what to think of it. We were out there playing, and one event lead to another event. I’m still baffled, I don’t know what happened. This is not the way it should be, coming out here and losing a close game. We knew we were good enough to win that game. How the circumstances ended up, it’s just frustrating.”
On why
“I don’t have any answer to that. In all three phases of the game, we made critical errors. You can look play by play. Somebody didn’t do something right on one play.”
On when the game started to turn...
“I’d say on the first punt block that they ran back. Then some of it crept in. Then a safety and some more crept in. We kept going three and out, three and out. It’s like a broken record. Everybody’s always saying, here we go again. Well, it was today again.”
On if the atmosphere had anything to do with the loss...
“They were playing with high emotion the whole game. We were playing with that, obviously. We put up a big lead, and we were doing a lot of good things. But in the end, I think it poured on even more. That might have helped them at the end.”
