Head Coach Danny Kaspar
On preparing for this game...
“Jim (Wooldridge) has this team on the cusp of getting to the NCAA Tournament or at least the NIT Tournament in my book. He has a good squad. Cartier Martin and David Hoskins are very good players. He has a good supporting cast. I don’t know how we can mimic them in practice, because we don’t have the big bodies that they have. We just tried to warn our kids that it’s going to be physical, that Hoskins and Martin are going to be very good players, and that we have got to stop them. But I just got a stat sheet, but it just looks like we didn’t do a very good job because Martin had 24 and Hoskins had 16. The fact that we had five free throws and didn’t make any they outscored us 22-0 at the line doesn’t help.
On his strategy for the second half...
“We just got after our kids and told them they have to start playing more physical and more aggressive. There was a little intimidation factor. We were a little bit intimidated going into this game. We weren’t ready to play. We didn’t really get to the basket enough to draw fouls. I’m not saying we deserved a lot of free throws tonight. They just beat us physically in every way on the boards, getting to the basket. They did all the things. Nine times out of 10 they are going to beat us because they are the better team. And you just hope that one night is tonight, but it wasn’t. I like their team, and I think they are going to have a good year.”

On the size of
“K-State, sizewise, is a lot bigger than anyone in our conference. They also have more intensity than other teams we play.”
On preparing for this game...
“We did a lot to prepare. We watched game film on them. We went over their personnel. Our coaches do a good job of going over teams that we are going to play before we get there. So we knew a lot about them coming in. It was just a matter of executing tonight.”
On what the team was told at the half...
“Coach tried to keep us up. He told us that we were still in it. We were down by 13. So we came in trying to rebound the ball and execute on offense. We still had a chance at that point.”
