On being down 10 at halftime and what started the downward spiral...
“I thought we were awful from the beginning. Even when we were in it and it was like 10-10, I didn’t like the way it was going because we were making really tough shots and they were getting easy shots and as a coach you knew it was all over right there because we weren’t going to keep making those shots. We weren’t playing very good defense and they were. The turning point in the second half was just so gradual. They kept playing better and we kept playing worse.”
On the play of Bobby Brown...
“I think what happened is the other guys weren’t playing and all of sudden he decided to try too hard. What really hurt us as well was our backup point guard. John Clemmons couldn’t play tonight. He had the flu or food poisoning. He (Bobby Brown) was our only point guard out there. So, I couldn’t give him enough rest. Since everything was going bad, he tried to take too much on his own shoulders.”
SENIOR GUARD VERSHAN COTTRELL
On the game...
“We just wanted to come out and compete regardless of individual efforts. As a team, we didn’t come out and do what we were capable of doing. We didn’t shoot the ball very well and we didn’t stop anybody. We needed stops in order to come back from a deficit. We couldn’t get any stops or anything to fall either.”
