Head Coach Jim Wooldridge
On how well his team played...
“We did a lot of good things tonight. The only thing we probably didn’t do very well was shoot free throws. We guarded well, we rebounded the ball well, we took care of it, we got good shots, we played good defense overall I thought we did what we had to do to make it the kind of game that it was. We didn’t let the two Brown guys (Jamaal and Bobby) get going early and I thought that was a key thing to the game. The stat sheet indicates that we played pretty good.”
On the keys to winning the game...
“There were three things going into the game. If we got good shots then we could keep them in front of us in the transition game. You could see that they can get down the floor in a hurry and they want to; they want to shoot it quick. That led to good defensive transition. If you get your team in front of the ball then it’s rebounding. I think statistically they were the best rebounding team in the country going into that game. Those were the three keys good shot selection, good defensive transition and then defensive rebounding. We were able to get those things done.”
On containing Jamaal Brown...
“We were good. We played hard, and we squeezed him down there. He wasn’t able to get loose on some cross screens that they like to do. On the post feed we had two or three guys down there Dramane (Diara) did a nice job, Cartier (Martin) did a nice job.”
