Kansas State Head Coach Quotes

On the play of Claire Coggins ...
“I thought she was steady and brought a great presence to the offensive side of the floor. She had good focus. Her three-point shots were just very timely and right on. I was just really pleased with the overall effort that we got from her. I am very pleased with what she brought to the floor.”
On the team’s level of motivation...
“I think we all need to compete every time we’re out on the floor. I think we saw that today, particularly from (Claire) Coggins, (Kimberly) Dietz, (Shalee) Lehning and (Danielle) Zanotti. I thought those players really stood out today. I hope that our players step on the court everyday with the highest level of motivation to compete and grab a hold of that opportunity. I think our basketball team overall is still learning that. I thought we had two very different halves. I think we, as a basketball team, all need to understand and learn that, and learn it quick. We are eight games into the season and warm-ups occur in that hour and a half before the game and once the game starts, we’ve got to be about business.”
On the difference between the first and second halves...
“I think the difference in those two halves was intensity. I think it was work ethic. I think it was focus. I think it was the speed at which we played, which I think translated into better defense immediately. You can’t play effective on either end of the floor if you’re not bringing great intensity and great emotion and great energy. I don’t think we brought any of those things consistently in the first half. I think it translated to great defense. We started the second half and sent a message about how we were going to play and we sustained it.”
