Evridge, Moran honored by The Sporting News

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Kansas State quarterback Allan Evridge and defensive tackle Alphonso Moran were honored by The Sporting News today as the magazine named the duo honorable mention freshman All-Americans.
Evridge made six starts for the Wildcats in 2005 and posted the most prolific season ever by a K-State freshman quarterback. Appearing in nine games, Evridge passed for a freshman school record 1,365 yards on 102-for-213 passing. He also tossed a frosh school-record six touchdowns, including the game winner in K-State's come-from-behind victory over Kansas.
For the season, Evridge passed for over 200 yards in three of his six starts, including a 357-yard performance against Texas A&M that stands as the nine-best single-game total in K-State history.
The Papillion, Neb., product also proved to be a dangerous weapon on the ground. At Nebraska, Evridge recorded the seventh-best single-game rushing performance ever by a Wildcat quarterback with his 138-yard, two-touchdown outing vs. the Cornhuskers.
Moran appeared in all 11 games and was the Wildcats' starter at one defensive tackle spot for the first seven games of the season. He finished the year with 21 tackles, including 2.5 behind the line of scrimmage and had his most productive outing of the season vs. Kansas with five tackles.
