Married to the former Zo Ahern of Valhalla, N.Y.; has three sons, Deuce (6), James (4), and John (1), and a daughter, Grace (3).

Education:
Graduated from Junction City High School in
Junction City, Kan., in 1988; attended Dodge City Community College; received a bachelor’s degree in history from Appalachian State in 1992.

Playing Experience:
Played collegiately at Dodge City Community College (1988-89) and Appalachian State (1990-91).

Coaching Background:
Volunteer assistant coach working with offensive tackles and tight ends at Dodge City Community College (1992); offensive line and tight ends coach at Alabama A&M (1993); offensive line coach at South Carolina State (1994); offensive line coach at James Madison (1995-97); running game coordinator (1999-2000) and offensive line coach at Cornell (1998-2000); named offensive line coach at Virginia on January 18, 2001; assumed additional duties as offensive coordinator in February of 2003; named head coach at Kansas State in December of 2005; Served NFL Minority Fellowships with the Jacksonville Jaguars (1996), Washington Redskins (1997), Atlanta Falcons (1999) and New York Giants (2000).
