On the struggles the past two games...

“I don’t think our struggles over the last couple games are all on offense. Defensively, we are giving up huge buckets in the last two games that we’ve played. They made ten-three’s tonight and however good of offense you play, it’s hard to win when you give up 30 points in the outside game. I think we did a great job on shutting down their inside game. Brie (Madden) and Shana (Wheeler) did a great job on Tiffany (Jackson), and she’s a tremendous player. I think shutting her down tonight what a big positive for us. Two games in a row, here we are Oklahoma hit nine-three’s on us and Texas hit ten. We are just going to have to bring great focus and attention to detail to get that done. It’s rough to come off of a loss and to get another one. Hopefully we are going to build from this. We need to look at the film and see the things that we are doing differently on than what we have in the past. We worked on it really hard the past couple days in practice, but we just didn’t get the job done when we needed to.”

On Texas’ offensive game...

“They are tough to defend. They have great shooters in (Heather) Schreiber and (Jamie) Carey. When you get Schreiber posting up on you along with Tiffany Jackson, that makes it even more difficult. We constantly have to be aware of shooters. Jamie does a great job of finding gaps and picking spots out on the three-point line and she was hitting tonight. Coming off a 1-13 shooting game and scoring 21 tonight, that was huge for them. We just didn’t step up and stop it.”

SENIOR GUARD LAURIE KOEHN

On the final games of the season...

“Yeah, this is probably do-or-die time now. It’s do-or-die time every day at practice to get better and to make sure we don’t waste one moment. We need to make sure we are getting better every single chance we have and learning everything we can from every experience.”

On her final three-pointer...

“I couldn’t have asked for a better look. I don’t know that I was stunned that I was that wide open. It was the shot I wanted. I wanted the shot whether it was wide open or it wasn’t wide open. It’s just one I got to knock down.”

On K-State’s defensive plan...

“We did put a big focus on us packing it in and not letting the post get going. We didn’t want (Tiffany) Jackson to get hot down there, and we wanted to make it crowded for them. Every moment we were working on that, we were also working on not letting Jamie Carey get open looks from the outside. I guess it didn’t carry over to the game because she got wide open looks right from the start. It’s like we fixed a lot of the things we’ve had trouble with the past couple games, but one little mistake and one little glitch in our overall game is going to be costly, and that’s what happened tonight.”

On Saturday’s game against Colorado...

“I think we are all excited to come back on Senior Night and have that chance to be honored with our parents in front of our fans.”

On what needs to be done the rest of the regular season...

“We just have to take it game by game. We can’t be looking ahead to other teams. We are going to prepare for Colorado and be prepared to go out there and battle. We just need to take it one game at a time.”

On coming back after the two losses...

“That’s what competition is all about. You need to come back and get re-focused and charged up because Colorado doesn’t care that we lost two games. They are going to come in and battle and want to beat us, so we need to be prepared and just turn things around.”
