After the loss of eight regular players to graduation in the last two years, including three All-Americans, the 2005 edition of the Wildcats will be full of new, young talent. Leading the way for fifth-year head coach Suzie Fritz will be senior outside hitter Agata Rezende and sophomore setter Stacey Spiegelberg.
Rezende tallied 209 kills and 67 blocks in 27 matches in 2004. Spiegelberg recorded 53 assists in just 15 matches, including a season-high 24 against
Since the beginning of Big 12 play in 1996, the Wildcats have the third-most wins in Big 12 (126-54) and overall play (199-84).
The Cornhuskers garnered all 10 of the possible first-place votes, with the coaches not being allowed to vote for their own teams.
The Wildcats will open the 2005 season at the Clarion Hotel/Missouri State Invitational in
