| | | | | K-State to Host Signing Day Luncheon | | The Kansas State football program will host the inaugural “Signing Day with Head Coach Ron Prince” on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the K-State Alumni Center. The first-of-its-kind event for K-State fans will be hosted by Coach Prince, who will provide commentary on the Wildcats 2006 recruiting class and answer questions regarding the class. The event will also feature short highlight videos of each of the signees. Tickets purchased for the event prior to Jan. 30 are priced at $5 for the general public and $3 for Kansas State students (with K-State I.D.). Any remaining tickets not purchased by Jan. 30 will be sold at the door on Feb. 1 for $7. Activities begin at 12 p.m. at the K-State Student Union followed by a jersey retirement ceremony that night at halftime of the K-State-Iowa State game. | | | | | Baseball Set to Begin Spring Practice | | The Kansas State baseball team will begin spring practice Sunday, January 22, as the Wildcats start their preparation for the 2006 season. The Wildcats open the season February 17 at the Texas-Arlington Invitational in Arlington, Texas. K-State begins the round-robin tournament with an 11:30 a.m. game Friday against Oral Roberts before playing Texas-Arlington on Saturday afternoon and Illinois State Sunday. | | | | | Ahearn Fund Policy Changes | | Donors to the Ahearn Scholarship Fund recently received a letter from the Development Office detailing changes in the payment policy. Donors who in the past have deferred payment until after receiving their football tickets will now be required to pay their contribution in full by June 30 prior to the tickets being mailed in August. | | | | | Big 12 Tournament Tickets Available | | Men's basketball season ticket holders who are donors to the Ahearn Scholarship Fund at the $1,000 level and above are eligible to purchase tickets to the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship to be held March 9-12 in Dallas. Orders for tickets must be made by Friday, February 3, through the Athletics Ticket Office. Lower-level all-session tickets cost $300 and upper-level all-session tickets are priced at $210. | | | | | Vanier Construction Update | | Construction on the expansion of the Vanier Sports Complex continues on schedule. In the last week, workers poured the pile caps and started the footings and foundation wall at the west end of the building. In addition, electrical and plumbing work in the visitors' and officials locker room has begun. A new locker room for officials will be constructed at the east end, with the existing officials' locker area becoming part of an expanded coaches' lounge and locker room. Other notable improvements of the project include an expansion and renovation of the Wildcat team locker room, including the installation of all new lockers; two offices for coaches on the upper level of the east end; three new offices, including one for Head Coach Ron Prince, and a conference room on the upper level of the west end, and new decor throughout the upper level of the existing building. Engineering plans for the installation of the new videoboard at the south end of Bill Snyder Family Stadium are in progress. Once completed, construction of the support system for the 23-foot-high by 61-foot-wide board will begin. | | | |

| | | | | Baseball Strength Center Complete | | Construction of the John Allen Strength Center for baseball under the first base grandstand of Tointon Family Stadium is complete. Installation of strength training equipment is scheduled for the week of January 23, coinciding with the beginning of spring baseball practice. The opening of the new strength center will greatly aid in of player development while providing flexibility and convenience for the team, which has trained in the strength center at the Vanier Sports Complex. The project, which also includes construction of a new coaches locker room, was assisted through a gift from alumnus John L. Allen, chief operating officer of the Cincinnati Reds, for whom the center is named. | | | |

| | | | | Two Home Baseball Games to be Televised Live by FSN | | Two home baseball games featuring defending national champion Texas and in-state rival Kansas will be televised live by Fox Sports Midwest, K-State and Fox officials have announced. Both games will be Sunday afternoon telecasts as the Wildcats and Longhorns square off at 1 p.m. on April 9, while the April 23 tilt with the Jayhawks will also be carried live by the network at 1 p.m. | | | |
