- For the fifth time this season, including four straight, Kansas State used the starting lineup of freshman point guard Shalee Lehning, junior guard Twiggy McIntyre, junior forward Claire Coggins, freshman forward Marlies Gipson and freshman center JoAnn Hamlin... Gipson has started all 18 games this season and Coggins has started 16 of the 18... The Wildcats are 4-1 this season with the starting five.
- In the 90th edition of the Sunflower Showdown, the Wildcats improved their win streak to nine consecutive games over rival KU... The Cats now lead the series 50-40... Coach Deb Patterson improves to 12-9 against the Jayhawks as Jayhawk second-year head coach Bonnie Henrickson is now 0-3 against K-State since her appointment at KU.
- Marlies Gipson scored 10 points in the first half alone, the most points in a half of her young career at K-State... She fouled out of the game with 5:03 remaining, but tied her career high with 16 points... She also added five rebounds to her line tonight.
- For the fourth time this year, Shalee Lehning scored in double-digits with 10 points... It was the first game to do so since putting up 11 points vs. UNC Wilmington in the opening round of the Saint Peter’s College Holiday Classic on Dec. 29.
- Jessica McFarland had her best game against the Jayhawks with eight points and five rebounds... She also had a career-high in minutes played against the Jayhawks as she saw 21 minutes of action... Her previous career-high in minutes against the Jayhawks was 14 in both games her freshman year.
- K-State is now shooting 82-of-110 (74.5%) from the free throw line in conference games this season after their 16-of-23 (66.7%) performance tonight... The Wildcats were 9-of-10 from the line in the last 44 seconds, including 4-of-5 by Coggins... K-State has shot 50-percent or better from the line in all 18 games this season.
- The K-State faithful packed Bramlage Coliseum with purple for the Sunflower Showdown with a season-high 7,128 fans in attendance.
