Wildcats Receive Votes in Major Polls

Nov 12, 2006 | Football

MANHATTAN, Kan. It’s been over a year since Kansas State last received votes in the USA Today Coaches’ poll and over two since the Wildcats had their ballot punched for the Associated Press’ top 25.

That all changed following K-State’s dramatic 45-42 win over No. 4/3 Texas.

The Wildcats (7-4, 4-3 Big 12) picked up enough votes to rank No. 28 in Sunday’s AP poll and No. 34 in the USA Today Coaches’ poll.

Kansas State also made its debut in the Harris Interactive College Football Poll Sunday, earning enough votes to check in at No. 31.

It marked the first time K-State has received votes in the AP poll since the Oct. 3, 2004 ranking. The Cats last received votes in the USA Today Coaches’ poll on Sept. 25, 2005 and had never earned votes in the new Harris poll prior to today.

Kansas State closes out its regular-season schedule on Saturday, Nov. 18, when the Wildcats travel to Lawrence for the 104th renewal of the Sunflower State Showdown. The game will telecast live by Fox Sports Net, beginning at 2:30 p.m. (CST).
