Five Wildcats named to All-Academic Football Teams

MANHATTAN, Kan. Senior team captain and defensive tackle Blake Seiler headlined a list of five Wildcats named to the 2006 Academic All-Big 12 football team released by the conference office.
A starter in 18 games during his K-State career, including eight this season, Seiler, a mechanical engineering major, has now been selected to the conference’s all-academic team three straight seasons.
Three Wildcats made their second straight appearance on the league’s All-Academic team. Sophomore running back John McCardle (business administration) earned a spot on the first team, while offensive linemen Logan Robinson (secondary education) and Brad Rooker (marketing) were named to the second team.
Senior Donald Raymer (secondary education) earned his first Academic All-Big 12 accolade as a member of the first team.
The 2006 Academic All-Big 12 Football teams consist of 146 student-athletes, including 92 first team members and 54 second-teamers. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team’s scheduled contests.
