Opening statement...

“There are no doubts; it’s been a tough week for the Buffaloes. I thought it was a good game tonight. It clearly was a great test for us on the road; Kansas State did exactly what we thought they would do. They have such a balanced attack from Shalee Lehning to Marlies Gipson. I have great respect for the progress K-State have made in such a short time. From last year’s group to this year’s group, it almost seems like they have matured, it may not seem that way to them, but almost overnight. They have a very balanced group, a very mature group. It is very evident because of the point guard they have and most good teams have a good point guard. Shalee Lehning is a very good point guard. I think she (Shalee) is a challenge every time she has the ball in her hand; whether it’s for two seconds or 28 seconds of the possession, she’s dangerous with the basketball. I thought the first half we did a better job on them offensively. The second half we let them get on their little run with easy buckets. They scored off penetration and Lehning found the open girl every time. For her team it’s a little deflating because they have worked hard for 32 minutes of the game. Lately we have been playing for 30 to 35 minutes, and just haven’t been able to finish. We as a team need to focus and work on that.”

On being an underdog...

“I can feel it, especially as a player during the last three years being the underdog to everyone then coming back and getting that ranking it didn’t really mean anything us. It’s a matter of fighting back when other people think we aren’t going to win. Once we get the lead we think hey we did it; we’ve showed people.’ That doesn’t show up in the win-loss column.”

On Shalee Lehning...

“She is a great point guard. They thing about point guards is that being a post player, you really appreciate a point guard because they are a natural leader on the court. The points, a center and forward can score those, a point guard has the ball in their hands and they make the people around them play better. I think she is tough to guard. It’s not her scoring, she gets her team involved and she makes her team better.”

On getting playing time...

“For me it was really frustrating. I really wanted to win the game. I think I worked hard, but not enough. To see all those (K-State) shots go in is just really frustrating not being able to help.”
