Mastrud Named to Academic All-America Team

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State tight end Jeron Mastrud has been named to the 2008 CoSIDA/ ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Wednesday.

 

Mastrud, a junior business administration major with a 3.88 grade-point average, earned his second straight Academic All-Big 12 honor on Tuesday and now can add the national honor to his resume.

 

The Beaverton, Ore., native is the first Wildcat football player since Ryan Lilja in 2003 to earn national academic honors and becomes the 17th player overall in school history to do so.

 

On the field, Mastrud was the Wildcats’ second-leading receiver in 2008 with 38 catches for 435 yards and two touchdowns, while he has played in 36 career games for the Wildcats, including earning 29 starts.
