Freeman Honored by Pro Football Weekly

MANHATTAN, Kan. Kansas State junior quarterback Josh Freeman was tabbed a 2008 honorable mention All-America selection by Pro Football Weekly Monday, the publication announced.

A junior captain, Freeman became Kansas State’s most prolific passer this past season as the Grandview, Mo., native set new school career marks for pass completions (680), attempts (1,151), yards (8,078), touchdowns (44) and total offense (8,421).

In 2008, Freeman threw for 2,945 yards on 224-of-382 passing with 20 touchdowns. Freeman also ran for 404 yards and 14 scores in 2008. The 14 rushing touchdowns were the fourth-most in a single season by a Wildcat quarterback.

Freeman, as a sophomore in 2007, set new single-season school records for pass attempts, completions and yards after throwing for 3,353 yards and 18 touchdowns on 316-of-499 aim.

The Pro Football Weekly All-America team annually honors the most talented players in college football and is determined based on considerable feedback from NFL evaluators taking into consideration a player’s pure talent and contribution to his team as well as placing an extra premium on true talent and draft value in the selection process.
