Wildcats Drop See-Saw Battle at Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 10 Kansas State Wildcats came into Mizzou Arena hoping to bring an end to a 29-game home winning streak by the Missouri Tigers. Instead, the Wildcats battled back and forth with Missouri only to see the game slip out of reach in the closing minutes with the Tigers winning 74-68.
K-State (13-2, 0-1 Big 12) trailed early in the game and battled back to even take a double-digit lead itself. That was short-lived, however, with Missouri (13-3, 1-0) answering the call and making a run of its own to reclaim the lead at the half. In total there were 12 lead changes and eight ties in the contest.
The Wildcats got into foul trouble early and could not get out as Missouri made 28-of-43 free-throw attempts on the afternoon. In the first half, Missouri made as many free throws as K-State attempted, playing a part in the comeback and surge to retake the lead at the half for the Tigers.
Missouri trailed by 10 points with 7:30 remaining the first half, but a 15-2 run by the Tigers suddenly found the Wildcats down three at the break. The teams would battle back and forth in the second half before a 3-pointer by Zaire Taylor put the Tigers up by three with 33 seconds to play in the game. K-State closed the gap to one point but could not overcome the Tigers and was handed just its second loss of the season.
K-State returns home to take on Texas A&M at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Bramlage Coliseum.
