Apr 16, 2010 | General
Tickets for the auction, themed "Cruisin' with the Cats," remain on sale for $75 each and include one admission and a catered meal featuring a variety of foods from the four "Ports of Call: Taste of the Islands, South of the Border, Riviera Rendezvous and Welcome Home."
The meal will be served from 6-8 p.m. with doors at Bramlage Coliseum also opening at 6 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit www.k-statesports.com or call the ticket office at 1-800-221 CATS.
Free childcare is also offered with the ticket as the K-State equestrian team will again be working the childcare area, which will be located in the Legends Room. This service offers the kids a great opportunity to get to know other future Wildcats, while enjoying pizza, movies and a visit by Willie. To register your children, call April Havenstein at (785) 532-7199.
The event, which features a live auction, includes unique experiences with K-State coaches and staff, such as a Cuban dinner with men's basketball coach Frank Martin, a workout with strength coach Scott Greenawalt, a pool party with head football coach Bill Snyder and staff, and dinner with current and former Athletics Directors. Those in attendance will also have a chance to bid on special K-State travel opportunities, such as fishing in Brazil, relaxing in Mazatlan, Washington DC tours, and a VIP trip to a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, as well as a Ford Model A decked out in true Wildcat fashion.
All live auction items are available now for online viewing at www.k-statesports.com.
The Powercat Auction is the athletic department's largest single-night fundraiser, earning nearly $320,000 last year, all of which directly supports the Ahearn Scholarship Fund and K-State's 350 student-athletes.
A limited number of spots also remain available for the 26th Annual Powercat Golf Tournament, which will kick off the events on Friday, according to assistant development director Bernie Haney.
The tournament will be held at Colbert Hills with registration for the four-person scramble format tournament beginning at 9 a.m. and a shotgun start slated for 10 a.m. The entry fee to play in the tournament is $150 per person and teams or individuals interested in pre-registering for the event should contact Haney at 785-532-5162 or bhaney@ksu.edu.
