Volleyball Starts Today
Our student-athletes have been working hard in preparation for the fall
season. Volleyball starts today in Atlanta at the Georgia Tech
Invitational. Be sure to head to Ahearn Field House on Tuesday night to
support Coach Fritz and the volleyball team in their home opener
against Creighton. The match, which will serve as the debut for our new
K-StateHD.TV network, will begin at 7 p.m. As a special offer to kick
off the season in grand style with a full house to support our
volleyball team and show off the atmosphere of Ahearn to our global
audience, all general admission tickets are just $1. Last year K-State
finished 18th in the country in volleyball attendance! But, if you
cannot make it to Ahearn, be sure to log on to K-StateHD.TV and watch
the Cats!
Cross Country to Wichita, Football Getting Ready
Coach Smith and our cross country teams will begin their fall season in
Wichita next weekend, while Coach Snyder and the football team open in
Manhattan the same day. We're closing in on our third straight "Family
Reunion" opening-day sellout as only about 2,500 tickets remain for next
week's Family Reunion football opener against Eastern Kentucky.
Tickets priced as low as $20 remain available as well as $10 military
tickets! Help make it three straight sellouts for the Family Reunion by
being at Bill Snyder Family Stadium on September 3. To better serve
you, our Bramlage Coliseum ticket office will also be open TOMORROW from
9 a.m. - 3 p.m., while tickets may also be purchased online at
k-statesports.com.
BSFS Stadium Improvements to be Unveiled
Our student-athlete and fans' experiences at Bill Snyder Family Stadium
have definitely been enhanced this summer thanks to approximately $2.5
million of your gifts and ticket dollars invested in the beautiful new
state-of-the-art AstroTurf GameDay Grass infill surface on Wagner Field,
while all our fans in the East View Level will have the convenience of
new restroom facilities complete with family restrooms and water
fountains. Many K-State fans flying in and out of MHK on our four (soon
to be five!) daily round trip American Eagle jet flights to Dallas and
Chicago have told me of how bright and clear the huge "K-State" end
zones show up from high in the sky! Let us know what you think of the
upgrades at BSFS this fall! We are committed to making our stadium
truly one of the finest in the country and these improvements are just a
start.
K-StateHD.TV Making Waves
We are also excited that the football opener will be broadcast across
the globe exclusively in high definition on K-StateHD.TV - the first
exclusive online HD broadcast of a K-State football game in school
history!
The reaction around the country regarding K-StateHD.TV has been
tremendous and I appreciate all the efforts of our staff in preparing
for this endeavor. For more information on K-StateHD.TV or to subscribe
to the service, visit www.k-statehd.tv.
Manhattan Getting Even Better, but Come Early!
For everyone attending the football game next week, we are advising you
to allow for extra travel time as several major road construction
projects around the Manhattan area will impact game-day traffic. Click
this link for more information. We encourage you to come early,
especially those of you utilizing K-18 from the west, and drive safely.
Over the next three years KDOT is upgrading K-18 to an interstate
quality highway all the way from I-70 to Manhattan. It is going to be
awesome, but we all need to be extra careful and patient in the work
zone.
The Big 12
You have likely already read yesterday's release from Texas A&M
regarding its intentions to explore other conference options. We
continue to work under the leadership of the conference office on our
No. 1 goal of convincing the Aggies to remain part of the tremendous
potential future of the Big 12. There is great solidarity among the
other nine institutions and an eagerness to achieve the stability our
students, fans and alumni deserve.
President Schulz and I remain actively engaged with our Big 12 partners,
including Texas A&M, and we will continue to keep our fans informed
of significant developments.
K-State 2025 Marches On
It is exciting to see the momentum building across campus towards
President Schulz's K-State 2025 visionary plan to move K-State into the
ranks of America's top 50 public research universities. At the same
time we are gaining ground on our vision of a "Model Intercollegiate
Athletics Program." Your support, presence and encouragement mean
everything to our student-athletes, coaches and staff.
Thank you! We'll see you next week in Ahearn Field House, Bill Snyder Family Stadium and around the world on K-StateHD.TV!
Go Cats!
