MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2016 season, k-statesports.com will recap the action for the 10 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Arthur Brown, LB – New York Jets
Waived by Jacksonville on Dec. 6, and quickly snatched up by the New York Jets, Brown saw time on 16 special teams plays in the Jets’ 23-17 victory at San Francisco. A former second-round pick, the fourth-year linebacker has played in 47 career games and made 20 tackles. New York improved to 4-9 on the year and hosts AFC East foe Miami on Saturday night.

B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
An undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 who spent last year on the practice squad, Finney started his second-career game at left guard in Pittsburgh’s 27-20 win at Buffalo. A native of Andale, Kansas, Finney saw time in all 75 offensive plays in his 10th game of the year. Pittsburgh has followed a four-game skid with a current four-game winning streak, improving to 8-5 this year to sit in a first-place tie in the AFC North. The Steelers travel to Cincinnati on Sunday.
Glenn Gronkowski, FB – New England Patriots
Gronkowski, who entered the league as an undrafted rookie free agent with Buffalo and played for the Bills in Week 1, is in his third stint on New England’s practice squad this year. The Patriots earned a 30-23 victory on Monday night against Baltimore to improve to 11-2 and hold a three-game lead in the AFC East. Winners of four in a row, New England travels to Denver on Sunday.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Minnesota Vikings
Lamur, a fifth-year linebacker, saw time on both defense and special teams in the Vikings’ 25-16 home win over Jacksonville. A first-year player for Minnesota who spent his first four NFL seasons in Cincinnati, Lamur has 158 career tackles, a half sack, 10 passes defended and two interceptions in his career. Minnesota improved to 7-6 to sit in a tie for second place in the NFC North, two games behind first-place Detroit. The Vikings host Indianapolis on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, a second-year pro, hauled in four passes for 41 yards, rushed twice for 15 yards and averaged 27.2 yards on five kickoff returns in Seattle’s 38-10 loss at Green Bay. Lockett, a nominee for the 2016 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, has 32 catches for 429 yards this year to go along with an 8.8-yard punt return average and a 26.5-yard kickoff return average, the latter ranking fourth in the NFL. The Seahawks dropped to 8-4-1 on the year but still holds a three-game lead in the NFC West as they host Los Angeles on Thursday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Detroit Lions
A third-year offensive lineman, Lucas was inactive for Detroit’s five-straight victory, a 20-17 win over Chicago. An undrafted rookie free agent signee in 2014, Lucas has played in 34 career games with six starts. The Lions, who have won eight of their last nine games, continue to hold a two-game lead in the NFC North with a 9-4 record. Detroit travels to face the New York Giants this Sunday.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Green Bay Packers
A ninth-year pro, Nelson recorded six catches for 41 yards and two touchdowns in Green Bay’s third-straight victory, a 38-10 triumph over Seattle. On injured reserve for the entire 2015 season, Nelson has 75 receptions for 913 yards and 12 touchdowns this year. His 12 receiving scores lead the NFL. The Riley, Kansas, product ranks fifth in Green Bay history in career catches (475) and yards (7,022), while he now tied for third in touchdowns (61). Green Bay is now 7-6 on the year, two games behind Detroit in the NFC North, and travels to Chicago on Sunday.

Terence Newman, CB – Minnesota Vikings
Newman, a 14th-year veteran who is with his second season with Minnesota, carded six tackles in the Vikings’ 25-16 victory over Jacksonville. The Salina, Kansas, product, who is a nominee for the NFL’s 2016 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, has played in 201 career games and totaled 835 tackles to go along with two sacks, 166 passes defended and 41 interceptions. His 41 picks rank second among active players. Minnesota improved to 7-6 with the win, two games behind first-place Detroit, and hosts Indianapolis on Sunday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
A 12th-year veteran, Sproles hauled in two passes for 13 yards and a touchdown, rushed five times for 27 yards and returned a punt five yards in Philadelphia’s 27-22 home loss to Washington. With his four-yard touchdown reception, he became the first player in NFL history to record 30 receiving touchdowns, 20 rushing touchdowns, a kick-return touchdown and a punt-return touchdown in a career. He also improved his career all-purpose yardage mark to 18,912 to rank eighth in NFL history and second among active players, just 115 yards behind current Baltimore Raven wide receiver Steve Smith for seventh place. In 13 games this season, the 2016 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award finalist has accounted for 366 yards and a touchdown on the ground to go along with 400 receiving yards and two touchdowns in addition to a 13.2-yard punt return average, which ranks fourth in the NFL. The Eagles dropped to 5-8 on the year and are at Baltimore on Sunday.

Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair, a second-round pick in this year’s draft, started at center for a 13th time this year and played on all 56 offensive snaps in Chicago’s 20-17 loss at Detroit. The Bears fell to 3-10 and host Green Bay this Sunday.
