Isaac Shoots 2-Under Par to Move into Top 20
Oct 02, 2017 | Women's Golf
WEST POINT, Mississippi – Kansas State freshman women's golfer Reid Isaac carded a 2-under par 70 on Monday to jump 22 spots up the leaderboard to a tie for 20th place during the second round of the Magnolia Invitational at the par-72, 6,320-yard Old Waverly Golf Club.
The Wildcats shot a 10-over par 298 as a team and enter final-round play in eighth place at 23-over par 599, five shots away from a tie for sixth place.
Isaac recorded seven birdies on the day – including four-straight on the back nine – as she enters the final round at 4-over par 148. Isaac is one shot away from teammate Connie Jaffrey, who is tied for 16th place at 3-over par 147.
"Today was an up and down day," said head coach Kristi Knight. "There were a lot of quality shots, and we made 15 birdies. Unfortunately, we had some penalty shots on the back nine that cost us. We have an opportunity to finish strong tomorrow."
Following Isaac and Jaffery is freshman Niamh McSherry, who is tied for 32nd at 7-over par 151, while junior Chloe Weir is tied for 46th at 11-over par 155 and freshman Ella Adams is at 19-over par 163 to reside in 61st place.
Ole Miss maintained its top spot on the leaderboard at 9-under par 567, 12 strokes ahead of Tennessee. The Rebels' Julia Johnson leads on the individual leaderboard at 7-under par 137, holding a two-stroke advantage over LSU's Kathleen Gallagher.
The Magnolia Invitational will conclude Tuesday with an 8 a.m., shotgun start. Live results can be followed at www.golfstat.com and results will be available at www.kstatesports.com after play on Tuesday.
