MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2017 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, CB – Atlanta Falcons
A wide receiver for his entire K-State career in addition to the preseason with the Atlanta, Burton is now a cornerback on the Falcons' practice squad. The Falcons defeated Dallas, 27-7, to improve to 5-4 on the year prior to a showdown at Seattle on Monday night.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 who is in his second year on the roster, was active but did not play in Pittsburgh's 20-17 come-from-behind win at Indianapolis. A product of Andale, Kansas, Finney has played in 19 career games with five starts, including three this season. The Steelers improved to 7-2 this year as they host Tennessee on Thursday night.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Minnesota Vikings
A sixth-year linebacker, Lamur made a pair of special teams tackles during his nine snaps in Minnesota's 38-30 victory at Washington. A second-year player for the Vikings after spending his first four seasons in Cincinnati, Lamur has 172 career tackles, a half sack, 11 passes defended and two interceptions. Minnesota, now 7-2 this season, hosts another 7-2 team in the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee was inactive for San Francisco's 31-21 victory over the New York Giants. The Blue Springs, Missouri, product had a tackle this year on punt coverage in Week 5 in Indianapolis, a play in which he forced a fumble. Originally a seventh-round draft pick by Minnesota in the 2017 NFL Draft, Lee was a member of the Vikings' practice squad until he signed with San Francisco's active roster on Sept. 13. The 49ers picked up their first win of the year as they enter their bye week with a 1-9 record.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
A third-year pro, Lockett caught one pass for 16 yards, returned two punts for 18 yards and three kickoffs for 57 yards in Seattle's 22-16 Thursday-night win at Arizona. In eight games this season, the Tulsa, Oklahoma, product has 29 catches for 371 yards and returned 15 kickoffs for a 21.3-yard average. The Seahawks improved to 6-3 this season and they host Atlanta on Monday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OT – Los Angeles Rams
A three-year offensive lineman for Detroit who signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 13, Lucas was inactive for his eighth-straight game as the Rams earned a 33-7 win over Houston. Los Angeles holds a one-game lead over Seattle in the NFC West with a 7-2 record as the Rams travel to face 7-2 Minnesota on Sunday.
Charmeachealle Moore, LB – Los Angeles Chargers
Moore, an undrafted rookie free agent signee by the Chargers, is on injured reserve for the 2017 season. Los Angeles fell in overtime at Jacksonville, 20-17, to drop to 3-6 on the year. The Chargers face Buffalo on Sunday.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Green Bay Packers
Nelson, a 10-year veteran, hauled in three catches for 20 yards in Green Bay's 23-16 victory at Chicago. In nine games this year, Nelson has 33 catches for 358 yards and six touchdowns, the latter tying for second in the NFL. The Riley, Kansas, product is second in Green Bay history in career receiving touchdowns (69), tied for third in catches (530) and ranks fifth in yards (7,724). The Packers snapped their three-game losing streak to improve to 5-4 on the year. Green Bay hosts Baltimore on Sunday.
Terence Newman, CB – Minnesota Vikings
A 15-year NFL veteran in his third season with Minnesota, Newman carded three tackles and a pass breakup in the Vikings' 38-30 road victory at Washington. The Salina, Kansas, product played in his 212th career game – the 10th most among active NFL players and second most among defensive players. Newman, who has 23 tackles and three breakups this season, now has 864 career tackles to go along with two sacks, 170 passes defended and 41 interceptions, the latter ranking second in the NFL among active players. Winners of five-straight, 7-2 Minnesota hosts the 7-2 Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
Sproles, a 13-year veteran, was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 25, due to season-ending injuries sustained in Week 3. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,155 career all-purpose yards, which ranks first among active players and eighth in NFL history. Winners of seven-straight games entering its bye week, 8-1 Philadelphia comes out of the bye with a game at Dallas on Sunday night.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, played in all 60 offensive snaps in his 25th-straight start at center, a 23-16 defeat at the hands of Green Bay. Now 3-6 on the year, Chicago hosts Detroit on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A third-round pick in this year's draft, Willis carded one tackle in Cincinnati's 24-20 loss at Tennessee. The player who extended K-State's Big 12-leading draft streak to 24 years, Willis has 17 tackles, 2.0 TFLs and a sack this year for the 3-6 Bengals, who are at Denver on Sunday.
