MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2017 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, CB – Atlanta Falcons
Burton, a wide receiver for his entire K-State career in addition to the preseason with the Atlanta, is now a cornerback on the Falcons' practice squad. Atlanta earned a narrow 34-31 Monday-night victory at Seattle. Now 6-4 on the year, the Falcons host Tampa Bay on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
An undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 who is in his second year on the roster, Finney played on four offensive plays and four special teams plays in Pittsburgh's 40-17 Thursday-night victory over Tennessee. A product of Andale, Kansas, Finney has played in 20 career games with five starts, including three this season. The Steelers are now 8-2 this year to lead the NFC North by three games, and they host Green Bay on Sunday night.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Minnesota Vikings
Lamur, a sixth-year linebacker, carded two tackles on 13 defensive plays while also seeing time on eight special teams plays in Minnesota's 24-7 home victory over the Los Angeles Rams. A second-year player for the Vikings after spending his first four seasons in Cincinnati, Lamur has 174 career tackles, a half sack, 11 passes defended and two interceptions. Minnesota, now 8-2 this season to lead the NFC North by two games, travels to Detroit on Thanksgiving Day.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee and the San Francisco 49ers were off last week. The Blue Springs, Missouri, product had a tackle this year on punt coverage in Week 5 in Indianapolis, a play in which he forced a fumble. Originally a seventh-round draft pick by Minnesota in the 2017 NFL Draft, Lee was a member of the Vikings' practice squad until he signed with San Francisco's active roster on Sept. 13. San Francisco, which is 1-9 on the year, comes out of its bye to host Seattle on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, a third-year pro, started at receiver and totaled 234 all-purpose yards, but it wasn't enough as Seattle fell to Atlanta, 34-31, at home on Monday night. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, product hauled in four passes for 37 yards and returned five kickoffs for a career-high 197 yards (59.4-yard average), including a long of 57. In 10 games this season, Lockett has 33 catches for 408 yards and returned 20 kickoffs for a 25.9-yard average, the latter ranking fourth in the NFL. Now 6-4 on the season to sit a game behind the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West, the Seahawks travel to San Francisco on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OT – Los Angeles Rams
Lucas, a three-year offensive lineman for Detroit who signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 13, was inactive for his ninth-straight game as the Rams fell at Minnesota, 24-7. Los Angeles holds a one-game lead over Seattle in the NFC West at 7-3, and the Rams host New Orleans on Sunday.
Charmeachealle Moore, LB – Los Angeles Chargers
An undrafted rookie free agent signee by the Chargers, Moore is on injured reserve for the 2017 season. Los Angeles routed Buffalo, 54-24, to improve to 4-6 on the year and travels to Dallas for a Thanksgiving Day matchup.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Green Bay Packers
A 10-year veteran, Nelson caught two passes for 24 yards in Green Bay's 23-0 home shutout loss to Baltimore. In 10 games this year, Nelson has 35 catches for 382 yards and six touchdowns, the latter tying for third in the NFL. The Riley, Kansas, product is second in Green Bay history in career receiving touchdowns (69), third in catches (532) and fifth in yards (7,748). The Packers fell to 5-5 on the year and travel to Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
Terence Newman, CB – Minnesota Vikings
Newman, a 15-year NFL veteran in his third season with Minnesota, started and recorded four tackles – including two for loss – in the Vikings' 24-7 home win over the Los Angeles Rams. The Salina, Kansas, product played in his 213th career game – the 10th most among active NFL players and second most among defensive players – while he made his 202nd start. Newman, who has 27 tackles and three breakups this season, now has 868 career tackles to go along with two sacks, 170 passes defended and 41 interceptions, the latter ranking second in the NFL among active players. Winners of six in a row, 8-2 Minnesota leads the NFC North by two games and travels to Detroit on Thanksgiving Day.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
A 13-year veteran, Sproles was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 25, due to season-ending injuries sustained in Week 3. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,155 career all-purpose yards, which ranks first among active players and eighth in NFL history. Winners of eight-straight games, the Eagles improved to 9-1 with a 37-9 win at Dallas, and they host Chicago on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Whitehair started his 26th-straight game and played on all 63 offensive snaps in Chicago's 27-24 home loss to Detroit. Now 3-7 on the year, the Bears travel to Philadelphia on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
Willis, a third-round pick in this year's draft, had a quarterback hurry in Cincinnati's 20-17 victory at Denver. The player who extended K-State's Big 12-leading draft streak to 24 years, Willis has 17 tackles, 2.0 TFLs and a sack this year for the 4-6 Bengals, who host in-state rival Cleveland on Sunday.
