Holtorf Named Academic All-American

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State sophomore offensive lineman Adam Holtorf was honored for his work in the classroom and on the field as he has been named a Second Team Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

Holtorf is the first Wildcat to earn Academic All-America accolades since Curry Sexton in 2014, while he is the first K-State offensive lineman to pick up the honor since Ryan Lilja in 2003.

Holtorf, who was a First Team Academic All-Big 12 honoree and an Academic All-District 7 performer in 2017, carries a 3.94 GPA in agribusiness. He was one of 10 players – including three Wildcats – who were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team with a 4.0 GPA over his previous two semesters.

On the field, the Seward, Nebraska, native has started all 12 games at center, helping the Wildcat offense finish the regular season ranking second in the Big 12 in rushing at 186.7 yards per game and yards per carry (4.8), while they rank fourth in rushing touchdowns (25).

The Wildcats face UCLA in the 2017 Cactus Bowl on Tuesday, December 26, a game that will be played at the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks – Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
