Wildcats in the NFL – Week 15

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2017 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
 
Deante Burton, CB – Atlanta Falcons
Burton, a wide receiver for his entire K-State career in addition to the preseason with the Atlanta, is a defensive back on the Falcons' practice squad. Atlanta topped Tampa Bay, 24-21, on Monday night to improve to 9-5 on the year. Currently the second Wild Card in the NFC Playoffs, the Falcons travel to face New Orleans on Sunday.
 
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
An undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 who is in his second year on the active roster, Finney was in on four special teams plays in Pittsburgh's narrow 27-24 defeat at the hands of New England. A product of Andale, Kansas, Finney has played in 25 career games with five starts, including three this season. The AFC North Champions who are currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs, the Steelers are 11-3 this year and are at Houston on Monday afternoon.
 
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Minnesota Vikings
Lamur, a sixth-year linebacker, recorded a team-high tying five tackles and a pass breakup in Minnesota's 34-7 win over Cincinnati, a victory that clinched the NFC North Division title. A second-year player for the Vikings after spending his first four seasons in Cincinnati, Lamur has 180 career tackles, a half sack, 12 passes defended and two interceptions. Now 11-3 this year to occupy the No. 2 spot in the NFC playoffs, Minnesota travels to face Green Bay on Saturday night.
 
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee registered two tackles among his 16 special teams plays as San Francisco picked up its third-straight win and fourth in the last five games with a 25-23 triumph over Tennessee. The Blue Springs, Missouri, native has played in 12 games this year with four tackles. Originally a seventh-round draft pick by Minnesota in the 2017 NFL Draft, Lee was a member of the Vikings' practice squad until he signed with San Francisco's active roster on Sept. 13. The 49ers improved to 4-10 on the year and host Jacksonville on Sunday.
 
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, a third-year pro, caught two passes for eight yards, returned a pair of punts for 18 yards and totaled 118 kickoff-return yards on six attempts in Seattle's 42-7 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. In 14 games this season, Lockett has 41 catches for 523 yards and two touchdowns, while he has returned 33 kickoffs for a 24.0-yard average. Seattle dropped to 8-6 on the year, and the Seahawks are battling for the final Wild Card spot as they travel to face Dallas on Sunday.
 
Cornelius Lucas, OT – Los Angeles Rams
Lucas, a three-year offensive lineman for Detroit who signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 13, was inactive for the Rams' 42-7 victory at Seattle. The win put LA in the driver's seat for the NFC West Division title, and the Rams currently hold the No. 3 seed for the NFC playoffs with a 10-4 record. The Rams travel to face Tennessee on Sunday.
 
Charmeachealle Moore, LB – Los Angeles Chargers
An undrafted rookie free agent signee by the Chargers, Moore is on injured reserve for the 2017 season. Los Angeles lost at Kansas City, 30-13, on Sunday to fall to 7-7. Battling for the final Wild Card spot in the AFC playoffs, the Chargers travel to face the New York Jets on Sunday.
 
Jordy Nelson, WR – Green Bay Packers
A 10-year veteran, Nelson caught three passes for 28 yards in Green Bay's 31-24 loss at Carolina. In 14 games this year – all starts – Nelson has 50 receptions for 471 yards and six touchdowns. The Riley, Kansas, product is second in Green Bay history in career receiving touchdowns (69), third in catches (547) and fifth in yards (7,837). The loss dropped the Packers to 7-7 this year, and Green Bay hosts Minnesota on Saturday night.
 
Terence Newman, CB – Minnesota Vikings
Newman, a 15-year NFL veteran in his third season with Minnesota, carded a tackle, an interception and a pass breakup as he helped the Vikings clinch the NFC North Division title with a 34-7 victory over Cincinnati. The Salina, Kansas, product played in his 217th career game – the 10th most among active NFL players and second most among defensive players – while he carded his 42nd career interception – the second most among active players. Newman, who has 29 tackles, four pass breakups and a pick this season, has 870 career tackles to go along with 2.0 sacks and 172 passes defended. The Vikings, currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs, travel to face Green Bay on Saturday night.
 
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
A 13-year veteran, Sproles was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 25, due to season-ending injuries sustained in Week 3. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,155 career all-purpose yards, which ranks first among active players and eighth in NFL history. Philadelphia picked up a 34-29 win at the New York Giants to improve its record to an NFL-leading 12-2 and take ahold of the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. The Eagles hosts Oakland on Monday night.
 
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Whitehair started his 30th-straight game and played on all 69 offensive snaps in Chicago's 20-10 loss at Detroit on Saturday. Now 4-10 on the year, the Bears host Cleveland on Sunday.
 
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
Willis, a third-round pick in this year's draft, recorded a tackle among his 31 defensive plays and 11 special teams plays in Cincinnati's 34-7 loss at Minnesota. The player who extended K-State's Big 12-leading draft streak to 24 years, Willis has 21 tackles, 3.0 TFLs and a sack this year. Now 5-9 on the year, the Bengals host Detroit on Sunday.
