Wildcats in the NFL – Week 16

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2017 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, CB – Atlanta Falcons
A wide receiver for his entire K-State career in addition to the preseason with the Atlanta, Burton is a defensive back on the Falcons' practice squad. The Falcons lost at New Orleans, 23-13, to fall to 9-6 this year. Currently the second Wild Card in the NFC Playoffs, Atlanta hosts Carolina on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015 who is in his second year on the active roster, made his fourth start of the season as he played on all 61 offensive snaps at left guard in Pittsburgh's 34-6 win at Houston. A product of Andale, Kansas, Finney has played in 26 career games with six starts. The AFC North Champions who are currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC playoffs, the Steelers are 12-3 this year and host Cleveland on Sunday.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Minnesota Vikings
A sixth-year linebacker, Lamur played on 12 special teams plays in the Vikings' 16-0 win at Green Bay on Saturday night. A second-year player for the Vikings after spending his first four seasons in Cincinnati, Lamur has 180 career tackles, a half sack, 12 passes defended and two interceptions. Occupying the No. 2 seed in the NFC Playoffs with a 12-3 record, Minnesota hosts Chicago on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee played on 18 special teams plays and six defensive snaps in San Francisco's fourth-straight win, a 44-33 triumph over Jacksonville. The Blue Springs, Missouri, native has played in 13 games this year with four tackles. Originally a seventh-round draft pick by Minnesota in the 2017 NFL Draft, Lee was a member of the Vikings' practice squad until he signed with San Francisco's active roster on Sept. 13. The 49ers, who have won five of their last six after starting the season 0-9, conclude their season on Sunday at the Los Angeles Rams.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
A third-year pro, Lockett hauled in one pass for seven yards, rushed once for two yards and returned a punt nine yards in Seattle's 21-12 victory at Dallas. In 15 games this season, Lockett has 42 catches for 530 yards and two touchdowns, while he has returned 33 kickoffs for a 24.0-yard average. Now 9-6 this year, Seattle is currently the first team out of the NFC Playoffs and will host Arizona on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OT – Los Angeles Rams
A three-year offensive lineman for Detroit who signed with the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 13, Lucas was inactive for the Rams' 27-23 win at Tennessee. The win clinched the NFC West Division title for LA, and the Rams currently hold the No. 3 seed for the NFC playoffs with an 11-4 record. Los Angeles hosts San Francisco on Sunday.
Charmeachealle Moore, LB – Los Angeles Chargers
Moore, an undrafted rookie free agent signee by the Chargers, is on injured reserve for the 2017 season. Los Angeles won at the New York Jets, 14-7, to improve to 8-7. Still in contention for the final Wild Card spot in the AFC playoffs, the Chargers host Oakland on Sunday.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Green Bay Packers
Nelson, a 10-year veteran, caught three passes for 11 yards in Green Bay's 16-0 loss to Minnesota on Saturday night. In 15 games this year – all starts – Nelson has 53 receptions for 482 yards and six touchdowns. The Riley, Kansas, product is second in Green Bay history in career receiving touchdowns (69), third in catches (550) and fifth in yards (7,848). The Packers are 7-8 this year and will look for a .500 season on Sunday at Detroit.
Terence Newman, CB – Minnesota Vikings
A 15-year NFL veteran in his third season with Minnesota, Newman started and made four tackles in the Vikings' 16-0 win at Green Bay on Saturday night. The Salina, Kansas, product played in his 218th career game, the 10th most among active NFL players and second most among defensive players. Newman, who has 33 tackles, four pass breakups and a pick this season, has 874 career tackles to go along with 2.0 sacks, 172 passes defended and 42 career interceptions, the latter ranking as the second most among active players. The Vikings, currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs, are 12-3 this year and host Chicago on Sunday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
Sproles, a 13-year veteran, was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 25, due to season-ending injuries sustained in Week 3. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,155 career all-purpose yards, which ranks first among active players and eighth in NFL history. Philadelphia earned a 19-10 Monday-night win over Oakland to clinch home field advantage in the NFC Playoffs with a 13-2 record. The Eagles host Dallas on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, started his 31st-straight game at center and played on all 64 offensive snaps in Chicago's 20-3 win over Cleveland. The 5-10 Bears conclude their season at Minnesota on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A third-round pick in this year's draft, Willis recorded a tackle among his 16 defensive plays and five special teams plays in Cincinnati's 26-17 win over Detroit. The player who extended K-State's Big 12-leading draft streak to 24 years, Willis has 22 tackles, 3.0 TFLs and a sack this year. Cincinnati is 6-9 this year and finishes its season at Baltimore on Sunday.
