MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State Athletics is heading to a town near you as the department kicks off a new and improved Catbacker Tour of the state of Kansas Monday in Dodge City.
The department will make a total of 23 stops and travel more than 8,000 miles between May 15 and June 16 as representatives from department make visits to K-State fans across the state.
The tour, which will focus on providing affordable family fun for all ages, begins with consecutive stops in Dodge City, Garden City, Scott City, Colby and Hays over five days beginning Monday before wrapping up June with an event in Manhattan.
New this year on the tour is a “carnival” and “gameday” experience which will include inflatables, tailgate games and other entertainment options for Wildcats of all ages.
“The new pep-rally style setting was created to target families and Wildcat fans of all ages,” said Matt Giller, assistant director of development and Catbacker Club liaison. “We challenged each of our clubs to find venues and vendors that would allow us to put on an affordable event where families can bring their kids, hang out with student-athletes and Willie the Wildcat and have fun.”
Even more, this year’s tour will include an exclusive “Taste of K-State” package, an all-encompassing K-State ticketing experience available only at each stop. Single tickets run $75, while four can be purchased for $250. Each purchase includes a general admission ticket to K-State’s football game against Iowa State (November 25), the choice of one men’s basketball game other than the KU matchup, along with a pick of one women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer and baseball game. Fans also receive a football mini helmet (one per ticket) with this package.

“We are extremely excited to hit the road next week,” Giller added. “Our fans across the state make the trip to Manhattan multiple times a year and for us to spend one day in their communities is something we look forward to.”
