MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head coach Bruce Weber announced the addition of junior transfer Patrick Muldoon (Basehor, Kan./Basehor-Linwood/Eastern Illinois) as a walk-on on Tuesday.
A 6-foot-7, 215-pound forward from Basehor, Kansas, Muldoon joins the Wildcats after a two-year stint at Eastern Illinois in Charleston, Illinois, where he helped head coach Jay Spoonhour and the Panthers post 27 wins during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. He will sit out the 2017-18 season due to NCAA regulations and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining starting in the 2018-19 season. He is eligible to practice with the team immediately.
“We are excited to have Patrick join our program,” said Weber. “We have been fortunate over the years to have some really quality walk-ons, players like Brian Rohleder, Austin Budke and Zach Winter, and Patrick certainly brings those qualities to our team. He has Division I experience, having played quality minutes the last two seasons at Eastern Illinois, and is an excellent student who wants to pursue an engineering degree.”
Muldoon played in all 29 games for Eastern Illinois with 10 starts in 2016-17, helping the Panthers to a 14-15 overall record and 6-10 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play. He averaged 5.5 points on 45.8 percent shooting (66-of-144) as a sophomore with 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.5 steals and 0.5 blocks in 19.8 minutes per game. He ranked second on the team in blocks (15), while he was fourth in rebounding (4.3 rpg.), offensive (78) and defensive (126) rebounds and seventh in scoring (5.5 ppg.).

A First Team Class 4A All-State selection as a senior, he averaged 17.1 points on 58 percent shooting with 6.8 rebounds in guiding the Bobcats to a 24-1 record and a runner-up finish at the Class 4A state tournament in 2014-15.
Muldoon will be the sixth newcomer to join K-State for the 2017-18 season, which began Monday with the start of summer workouts. He joins fellow junior Amaad Wainright (Kansas City, Mo./Trinity Valley Community College), sophomore Makol Mawien (West Valley City, Utah/New Mexico Junior College) and freshmen Mike McGuirl (Ellington, Conn./East Catholic), Nigel Shadd (Chandler, Ariz./Tri-City Christian) and Levi Stockard III (St. Louis, Mo./Vashon).
