MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2018 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, CB – Atlanta Falcons
Burton has spent time on both Atlanta's and Green Bay's active roster this year but has been on the Falcons' practice squad the last several weeks, a place he resided all last year. The 3-4 Falcons were off last week and travel to face Washington on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
An undrafted rookie free agent signee in 2015 who is in his third year on the active roster, Finney played on one offensive snap and five special-teams plays in Pittsburgh's 33-18 home victory over Cleveland. A product of Andale, Kansas, who has played in 34 career games, Finney has started nine games in his career, including two this year. The Steelers improved to 4-2-1 on the season and travel to Baltimore on Sunday.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Oakland Raiders
Lamur, a seventh-year linebacker, was inactive for Oakland's 42-28 home loss to Indianapolis. Lamur has played in 77 career games with 18 starts, and he has totaled 190 career tackles. The Raiders fell to 1-6 this season and has a quick turnaround as they travel to San Francisco on Thursday night.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
A second-year player, Lee carded a pair of tackles and recovered a fumble on a muffed punt, but it wasn't enough as the 49ers suffered an 18-15 loss at Arizona. Lee has played in 22 career games with 24 tackles, 20 of which have come this year. San Francisco fell to 1-7 this season and hosts Oakland on Thursday night.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, a fourth-year pro, came away with two receptions for 34 yards – including a 24-yard touchdown – while he rushed twice for 13 yards and returned a punt 10 yards in Seattle's 28-14 win at Detroit. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native has 25 receptions for 394 yards and six touchdowns this year, the latter tying his career high (2015) and tied for fourth in the league. The victory improved Seattle to 4-3 on the year prior to hosting the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
After spending the preseason with Arizona, McCrane was signed again by the Cardinals – this time to their practice squad – last week. McCrane had been the Oakland Raiders' kicker, making 5-of-9 on field goals 5-of-5 on extra points, before being waived. McCrane's field-goal total included a game-winner in overtime against Cleveland in his first-career game. Arizona earned an 18-15 win over San Francisco to improve to 2-6 this season prior to its bye week.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Oakland Raiders
Nelson, an 11th-year veteran who is in his first season with Oakland, caught one pass for 14 yards in the Raiders' 42-28 home loss to Indianapolis. The Riley, Kansas, product has 23 catches for 337 yards and three touchdowns this year for the 1-6 Raiders. Oakland travels to face San Francisco on Thursday night.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle, an undrafted rookie free agent this past spring, was placed on injured reserve prior to the season. He finished the preseason with six receptions for 147 yards, including a four-catch, 122-yard effort in the final preseason game against Green Bay. His game against the Packers also included a 47-yard kickoff return. Kansas City is now 7-1 on the year following a 30-23 win over Denver. The Chiefs travel to face Cleveland on Sunday.
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
A fifth-round draft pick by San Francisco in this year's draft, Reed saw time on nine special-teams plays in the 49ers' 18-15 loss at Arizona. Reed has a 30.2-yard kickoff return average this year to rank fourth in the league. The loss dropped San Francisco to 1-7 this season, and the 49ers host Oakland on Thursday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
Sproles, in the midst of his 14th NFL season, was inactive for Philadelphia's 24-18 win over Jacksonville in London, England. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,216 career all-purpose yards to rank sixth in NFL history and first among active players. The win evened the Eagles record at 4-4 prior to their bye week.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Whitehair registered his 39th-straight start and 38th at center in Chicago's 24-10 home win over the New York Jets. The Abilene, Kansas, product played on all 66 offensive snaps in the game. The Bears improved to 4-3 on the year, and Chicago travels to Buffalo on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
Willis, a third-round pick in last year's draft, registered three tackles among his 66 defensive snaps and five special-teams plays in Cincinnati's 37-34 win at Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Bengals improved to 5-3 this season and are off next week.
