MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2018 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, CB – Atlanta Falcons
Spending time on both Atlanta's and Green Bay's active roster this year, Burton has since been signed back to the Falcons practice squad, a place he resided all of last year. Atlanta fell to 1-4 with a 41-17 loss at Pittsburgh, and the Falcons host Tampa Bay on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, an undrafted rookie free agent signee in 2015 who is in his third year on the active roster, saw time on two offensive snaps and six special teams plays in Pittsburgh's 41-17 victory over Atlanta. A product of Andale, Kansas, who played in his 32nd-career game, Finney has started nine games in his career, including two this year. The Steelers improved to 2-2-1 this season and travels to face Cincinnati on Sunday.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Oakland Raiders
A seventh-year linebacker, Lamur saw time on 25 defensive snaps and eight special teams plays in Oakland's 26-10 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers. Lamur has played in 76 career games with 17 starts, and he has totaled 186 career tackles. Now 1-4 on the year, the Raiders face the Seattle Seahawks in London, England on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee, a second-year player, saw action on 21 special teams plays in San Francisco's 28-18 home loss to Arizona. Lee has played in 19 career games with 20 career tackles, 16 of which have come this year. The 49ers are now 1-4 this season and travel to Green Bay on Monday night.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
A fourth-year pro, Lockett caught three passes for 98 yards – which included a 39-yard touchdown reception – while rushing once for six yards and returning three kickoffs for 77 yards (25.7-yard average) in Seattle's 33-31 home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Lockett has 20 receptions for 347 yards and four touchdowns this year, the latter being his best mark since his 2015 rookie season and tied for the sixth-highest in the league. Now 2-3 on the year, Seattle travels to London, England, to face the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
Matt McCrane, PK – Oakland Raiders
After spending the preseason with the Arizona Cardinals, McCrane made 1-of-2 field goals and his lone extra-point attempt in the Raiders' 26-10 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers. McCrane, who made the game-winning field goal in overtime in his first-career game against Cleveland, also kicked off three times. The Brownwood, Texas, native is 4-of-7 on field goals this year and is 5-for-5 on extra points. The Raiders, now 1-4 on the season, travel to London, England, to face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Oakland Raiders
An 11-year veteran who is in his first season with Oakland, Nelson came away with four catches for 43 yards – including a 1-yard touchdown catch – in the Raiders' 26-10 defeat at the Los Angeles Chargers. Nelson has 20 catches for 327 yards and three touchdowns this year, the latter tying for ninth in the league. The Raiders fell to 1-4 on the season and faces the Seahawks in London, England, on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
An undrafted rookie free agent this past spring, Pringle was placed on injured reserve prior to the season. He finished the preseason with six receptions for 147 yards, including a four-catch, 122-yard effort in the final preseason game against Green Bay. His game against the Packers also included a 47-yard kickoff return. Kansas City, one of two 5-0 teams this year, travels to face New England on Sunday night.
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
Reed, a fifth-round draft pick by San Francisco in this year's draft, returned one kickoff for 29 yards in the 49ers' 28-18 home loss to Arizona. Reed, who saw time on 17 special teams plays, has a 30.2-yard kickoff return average this year to rank third in the league. The Wildcat whose selection by San Francisco in April extended K-State's Big 12-leading streak to 25-straight years with an NFL Draft pick, Reed and the 1-4 49ers travel to face Green Bay on Monday night.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
In the midst of his 14th NFL season, Sproles was inactive in Philadelphia's 23-21 defeat at the hands of Minnesota. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,216 career all-purpose yards to rank sixth in NFL history and first among active players. The 2-3 Eagles have a quick turnaround as they travel to face the New York Giants on Thursday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, and the Chicago Bears enjoyed their bye last week. Chicago travels to face Miami on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A third-round pick in last year's draft, Willis carded three tackles with a TFL and a quarterback hurry in Cincinnati's 27-17 victory over Miami, a game in which the Bengals shut out the Dolphins, 24-0, in the fourth quarter. A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Willis played on 31 defensive snaps and six special-teams plays. Cincinnati improved to 4-1 on the year and hosts Pittsburgh on Sunday.
