MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2018 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 10 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, an undrafted rookie free agent signee by Pittsburgh in 2015 who is in his third year on the active roster, carded his ninth-career start and second in as many games at right guard in Pittsburgh's 30-27 Monday-night win at previously unbeaten Tampa Bay. A product of Andale, Kansas, who played in his 30th-career game, Finney was in on all 66 offensive snaps and recovered a fumble after Ben Roethlisberger was sacked and lost the football. The Steelers, who netted their first win to improve to 1-1-1, host Baltimore on Sunday night.
Emmanuel Lamur, LB – Oakland Raiders
A seventh-year linebacker, Lamur carded one tackle among his 11 defensive plays and six special teams plays in Oakland's 28-20 loss at Miami. Lamur, who has played in 74 career games, has 182 career tackles. The 0-3 Raiders host Cleveland on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee, a second-year player, saw time on 24 special teams plays and one defensive snap in San Francisco's 38-27 loss at Kansas City. Lee has played in 17 career games with 19 career tackles, 15 of which have come this year. San Francisco, which fell to 1-2 on the year, hosts the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR/Returner – Seattle Seahawks
A fourth-year pro, Lockett hauled in four catches for 77 yards – including a 52-yard touchdown catch – had three kickoff returns for 66 yards (22.0 yds/return), returned three punts for 25 yards (8.3 yds/return) and rushed once for five yards in Seattle's 24-13 victory over Denver. Lockett now has 12 receptions for 196 yards and three touchdowns this year, the latter being his best mark since his 2015 rookie season and tied for the third-highest in the league. Seattle notched its first win of the season and travels to face Arizona on Sunday.
Jordy Nelson, WR – Oakland Raiders
An 11-year veteran who is in his first season with Oakland, Nelson carded six catches for 173 yards and his first touchdown as a Raider in Oakland's 28-20 loss at Miami. Nelson, who spent his first 10 NFL seasons in Green Bay, recorded the 26th 100-yard game of his career, and the mark was the second best of his career behind a 209-yard effort against the New York Jets in 2014. Oakland, which fell to 0-3 on the year, hosts Cleveland on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
An undrafted rookie free agent this past spring, Pringle was placed on injured reserve prior to the season. He finished the preseason with six receptions for 147 yards, including a four-catch, 122-yard effort in the final preseason game against Green Bay. His game against the Packers also included a 47-yard kickoff return. The Chiefs, one of three 3-0 teams this year, travels to face divisional foe Denver on Monday night.
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
Reed, a fifth-round draft pick by San Francisco in this year's draft, tallied three tackles and returned a kickoff 23 yards in the 49ers' 38-27 loss at Kansas City. Reed, who was in on 52 defensive snaps and 18 special teams plays against the Chiefs, has a 36.4-yard kickoff return average this year to rank second in the league. The Wildcat whose selection by San Francisco in April extended K-State's Big 12-leading streak to 25-straight years with an NFL Draft pick, Reed and the 1-2 49ers host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
In his 14th NFL season, Sproles was inactive for Philadelphia's 20-16 victory over Indianapolis. The Olathe, Kansas, native has 19,216 career all-purpose yards to rank sixth in NFL history and first among active players. The 2-1 Eagles travel to face Tennessee on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, collected his 35th-straight start and 34th overall at center in Chicago's 16-14 road win at Arizona. The Abilene, Kansas, native played on all 74 offensive snaps. The Bears, who are 2-1 this year, host Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A third-round pick in last year's draft, Willis started and made a tackle in Cincinnati's 31-21 road loss to Carolina. The start was the second of Willis' career and first this season. The Bengals, who suffered their first defeat of the season, stays in the NFC South as they travel to Atlanta on Sunday.
