MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2019 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 11 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, an undrafted rookie free agent signee by Pittsburgh in 2015 who is in his fourth year on the active roster, saw time on four offensive snaps and five special teams plays in Pittsburgh's 27-3 Monday-night victory over Cincinnati. Picking up its first victory of the season, Pittsburgh is now 1-3 on the year prior to hosting Baltimore on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee, a native of Blue Springs, Missouri, is on the 49ers' practice squad. San Francisco, 3-0 this season, was on a bye, and the 49ers host Cleveland on Monday night.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
In his fifth NFL season, Lockett had four catches for 51 yards and a kickoff return for 21 yards in Seattle's 27-10 win at Arizona. Seattle improved to 3-1 on the season prior to hosting the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Chicago Bears
Lucas, a fifth-year veteran, saw time on eight offensive snaps and four special teams plays in Chicago's 16-6 victory over divisional rival Minnesota. The Bears are now 3-1 this year, and they travel to London to face the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle, an undrafted rookie free agent prior to the 2018 season, had one catch for 13 yards and returned two kickoffs for 41 yards in Kansas City's 34-30 comeback victory at Detroit. Pringle's catch was the second of his career and came on the game-winning touchdown drive that got the Chiefs down to the Lion 3-yard line with 30 seconds remaining. It was one of three offensive snaps for Pringle, while he saw time on 13 special teams plays. Now 4-0 on the year, the Chiefs host Indianapolis on Sunday night.
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
Reed, a fifth-round draft pick by San Francisco in last year's draft, and the San Francisco 49ers were off last week. One of three undefeated teams through four weeks, San Francisco hosts Cleveland on Monday night.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
A second-round selection by Denver in this year's draft, Risner started at left guard and played on all 55 offensive snaps in the Broncos' 26-24 last-second loss to Jacksonville. Now 0-4 on the season, the Broncos will look to get into the win column when they travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley, a sixth-round pick in this year's draft by Chicago, saw time on six special teams plays in the Bears' 16-6 home win over Minnesota. Chicago improved to 3-1 this season, and the Bears travel to London to take on the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
Sproles, who is in his 15th NFL season, rushed one time for four yards in Philadelphia's 34-27 Thursday-night win at Green Bay. The Olathe, Kansas, native now has 19,652 career all-purpose yards to rank sixth in NFL history and first among active players. He needs just 31 yards to move into the top five in NFL history. The Eagles, now 2-2 on the season, host the New York Jets on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Whitehair made his 52nd-consecutive start in Chicago's 16-6 win over divisional foe Minnesota, a game in which the Abilene, Kansas, product played on all 72 offensive snaps. The Bears, now 3-1 this season, travel to London to face the Raiders on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – New York Jets
A third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Willis and the New York Jets were off last week. The 0-3 Jets come out of their bye week by traveling to face Philadelphia on Sunday.
