Wildcats in the NFL – Week 7

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2019 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
 
Deante Burton, DB – Indianapolis Colts
Burton, who originally entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent by Atlanta in 2017, is a member of the Colts' practice squad. Indianapolis picked up a 30-23 victory over divisional rival Houston to take over first place in the AFC South. The Colts, now 4-2 on the season, host Denver on Sunday.
 
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
An undrafted rookie free agent signee by Pittsburgh in 2015, Finney and the Steelers were off last week. Pittsburgh, which is 2-4 this season, hosts Miami on Monday night.
 
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, Lee is on San Francisco's practice squad. The 49ers improved to 6-0 this year with a 9-0 win at Washington. One of just two undefeated teams remaining, San Francisco hosts Carolina on Sunday.
 
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, in his fifth NFL season, carded five receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown to go along with two punt returns for 12 yards and three kickoff returns for 58 yards in Seattle's 30-16 home loss to Baltimore. Lockett is tied for eighth in the league with four receiving touchdowns, while he ranks 12th in receiving yards at 515. Seattle, which is 5-2 this season, travels to face Atlanta on Sunday.
   
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Chicago Bears
A fifth-year veteran, Lucas reported as a tackle eligible on one play and was in for three special teams plays in Chicago's 36-25 home loss to New Orleans. The Bears fell to 3-3 on the year and host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
 
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
An undrafted rookie free agent prior to the 2018 season, Pringle made two tackles among his 23 special teams plays, while he was also in for 14 offensive snaps in Kansas City's 30-6 win at Denver on Thursday night. The Chiefs improved to 5-2 on the year to lead the AFC West by two games. Kansas City hosts Green Bay on Sunday night.
 
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
A fifth-round pick by San Francisco in last year's draft, Reed saw time on eight special teams plays in the 49ers' 9-0 win at Washington. One of two undefeated teams in the NFL through seven weeks of play, the 6-0 49ers host Carolina on Sunday.
 
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner, a second-round selection by Denver in this year's draft, started at left guard and played on all 67 offensive snaps in the Broncos' 30-6 Thursday-night loss to Kansas City. Risner has now played on all 461 offensive snaps for Denver this season. The Broncos fell to 2-5 on the year and travel to face Indianapolis on Sunday.
 
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
A sixth-round pick in this year's draft, Shelley was inactive for Chicago's 36-25 home loss to New Orleans. The loss dropped the Bears to 3-3 this season prior to hosting the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
 
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
In the midst of his 15th NFL season, Sproles was inactive for Philadelphia's 37-10 Sunday-night loss at Dallas. The Olathe, Kansas, native ranks fifth in NFL history and first among active players in career all-purpose yards, a mark that now stands at 19,684. The Eagles fell to 3-4 on the season, and they travel to take on Buffalo on Sunday.
 
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair, who has started 54-consecutive games, lined up at left guard and played on all 65 offensive snaps in Chicago's 36-25 home loss to New Orleans. A native of Abilene, Kansas, Whitehair has been in for all 387 offensive plays for Chicago this season. Chicago fell to 3-3 on the year and hosts the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
 
Jordan Willis, DE – New York Jets
Willis was in for 23 defensive snaps and five special teams plays in the Jets' 33-0 Monday-night home loss to New England. Willis began his third season with Cincinnati this year but was waived and quickly claimed by the Jets. New York is now 1-5 this season and travels to take on Jacksonville on Sunday.
