MANHATTAN, Kan.– Coming off a second-place finish last week, the Kansas State women's golf team will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday as the Wildcats compete at the Icon Invitational in The Woodlands, Texas.
The two-day tournament, hosted at the par-72, 6,392-yard Woodlands Country Club, will feature an 8 a.m., shotgun start on both days with 36 holes being played on Monday and the final 18 being played on Tuesday.
Kansas State will be led into the invitational by senior Chloe Weir and freshman Briony Bayles, both of whom recorded top-20 finishes in last week's Texas State Invitational after carded a 5-over par 215. They led the Wildcats to a 54-hole score of 22-over par 874
"The ladies are ready to be on the course," head coach Kristi Knight said. "The key to our success this week is trust. They need to trust their knowledge and ability as well as themselves. The team is capable of accomplishing whatever they put their mind to."
Joining Weir and Bayles in the K-State lineup will be the sophomore trio of Ella Adams, Reid Isaac and Niamh McSherry. Additionally, sophomore Darby Deans will be competing in the event as an individual.
Joining the Wildcats in the field will be invitational host Houston, as well as Baylor, Clemson, Kent State, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, North Texas, Purdue, SMU, Southern Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech and UTSA.
