MANHATTAN, Kansas – Longtime Kansas State University and K-State Athletics supporter Dave Wagner has passed away at the age of 77.
A Dodge City, Kansas, native, Dave and his late wife Carol made a $796,000 gift in 1991 to have the turf at Bill Snyder Family Stadium replaced. The playing surface was renamed Wagner Field in their honor prior to the 1991 season, and the family has continued to be strong supporters of both the university and athletics program.
"Dave will be truly missed by the K-State family," Athletics Director Gene Taylor said. "He and his wife, Lynn, have regularly attended K-State football and basketball games, and we all sincerely appreciate their commitment and support of our programs. The Wagner family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers."
