MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2019 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 11 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, an undrafted rookie free agent signee by Pittsburgh in 2015 who is in his fourth year on the active roster, was in on four special teams plays in the Steelers' 28-26 loss to Seattle. Pittsburgh, now 0-2 on the year, travels to face San Francisco on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
Lee, a native of Blue Springs, Missouri, is on the 49ers' practice squad. San Francisco improved to 2-0 on the year with a 41-17 win at Cincinnati, and the 49ers host Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Now in his fifth NFL season, Lockett started and hauled in a game-high 10 catches for 79 yards to go along with 10 punt-return yards on two attempts in Seattle's 28-26 win at Pittsburgh. Seattle, which improved to 2-0 on the season, hosts New Orleans on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Chicago Bears
Lucas, a fifth-year veteran, was in on six special teams plays in Chicago's 16-14 last-second victory at Denver. The victory evened the Bears' record at 1-1, and they travel to face Washington on Sunday night.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle, an undrafted rookie free agent prior to the 2018 season, had an interesting week as he was waived by Kansas City on Monday and signed to its practice squad on Wednesday before being elevated back to the active roster on Saturday. He went on to see time on four offensive snaps and 18 special teams plays in the Chiefs' 28-10 win at Oakland. Kansas City faces Baltimore in its home opener on Sunday.
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
Reed, a fifth-round draft pick by San Francisco in last year's draft, carded three tackles and two pass breakups among his 30 overall plays (15 on defense) in the 49ers' 41-17 victory at Cincinnati. San Francisco, which improved to 2-0 on the season, hosts Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
A second-round selection by Denver in this year's draft, Risner earned his second-straight start in Denver's 16-14 last-second loss to Chicago. The player who extended K-State's Big 12-leading NFL Draft streak to 26-consecutive years, Risner played on all 82 offensive snaps and three special teams plays. Now 0-2 on the year, the Broncos travel to face Green Bay on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley, a sixth-round pick in this year's draft by Chicago, saw time on three defensive snaps and eight special teams plays in the Bears' 16-14 last-second victory at Denver. Chicago improved to 1-1 on the season, and the Bears travel to face Washington on Sunday night.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
Sproles, who is in his 15th NFL season, caught two passes for five yards and returned a punt eight yards in Philadelphia's 24-20 loss at Atlanta on Sunday night. The Olathe, Kansas, native improved his career all-purpose yardage total to 19,642 to rank sixth in NFL history and first among active players. He needs just 41 yards to move into the top five in NFL history. The Eagles, who are 1-1 this season, host Detroit on Sunday.

A second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Whitehair registered his 50th-consecutive start in Chicago's 16-14 last-second victory at Denver, a game in which the Abilene, Kansas, product played on all 61 offensive snaps. The Bears, now 1-1 on the year, travel to face Washington on Sunday night.
Jordan Willis, DE – New York Jets
Willis, a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by Cincinnati, was waived by the Bengals on Tuesday and claimed the next day by the New York Jets. Willis was inactive for the Jets' 23-3 Monday-night loss to Cleveland, a game that dropped New York to 0-2 prior to its trip to New England on Sunday.
