MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2019 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 11 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
An undrafted rookie free agent signee by Pittsburgh in 2015 who is in his fourth year on the active roster, Finney was in on four special teams plays in the Steelers' 24-20 loss at San Francisco. Pittsburgh, now 0-3 on the year, hosts Baltimore on Monday night.
Elijah Lee, LB – San Francisco 49ers
A native of Blue Springs, Missouri, Lee is on the 49ers' practice squad. San Francisco improved to 3-0 this season with a 24-20 home win over Pittsburgh prior to its bye week.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, who is in his fifth NFL season, totaled 213 all-purpose yards, which included a career-high 154 receiving yards on a career-best 11 catches, but it wasn't enough as Seattle fell to New Orleans, 33-27. Lockett, who also had 12 punt-return yards on three attempts and 47 kickoff-return yards on two attempts, registered the fifth 100-yard game of his career. Seattle lost for the first time this year as the 2-1 Seahawks travel to face Arizona on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Chicago Bears
A fifth-year veteran, Lucas made his ninth-career NFL start when he lined up at right tackle and played all 66 offensive snaps in Chicago's 31-15 Monday-night victory at Washington. With the win, the Bears are now 2-1 this season and they host Minnesota on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
An undrafted rookie free agent prior to the 2018 season, Pringle carded his first-career NFL catch in Kansas City's 33-28 home victory over Baltimore. Pringle's catch came on one of his two offensive plays, while he was in for 16 special teams plays, which included being the primary kickoff-return man. Now 3-0 on the year, the Chiefs travel to face Detroit on Sunday.
D.J. Reed, DB – San Francisco 49ers
A fifth-round draft pick by San Francisco in last year's draft, Reed had a tackle on kickoff coverage among his 11 special teams plays in the 49ers' 24-20 win over Pittsburgh. One of eight undefeated teams through three weeks, San Francisco is off next week.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner, a second-round selection by Denver in this year's draft, started at left guard and played on all 73 offensive snaps in the Broncos' 27-16 loss at Green Bay. The player who extended K-State's Big 12-leading NFL Draft streak to 26-consecutive years, Risner made a tackle on a Green Bay fumble recovery, while he also pulled his running back, Phillip Lindsay, into the end zone for a touchdown in the third quarter. The Broncos, now 0-3 on the year, host Jacksonville on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
A sixth-round pick in this year's draft by Chicago, Shelley saw time on seven special teams plays in the Bears' 31-15 win at Washington on Monday night. Chicago, now 2-1 this year, hosts Minnesota on Sunday.
Darren Sproles, RB/Returner – Philadelphia Eagles
In his 15th NFL season, Sproles rushed twice for four yards and returned a punt two yards in Philadelphia's 27-24 defeat at the hands of Detroit. The Olathe, Kansas, native now has 19,648 career all-purpose yards to rank sixth in NFL history and first among active players. He needs just 35 yards to move into the top five in NFL history. Falling to 1-2 on the year, the Eagles travel to face Green Bay on Thursday.

Whitehair, a second-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, carded his 51st-consecutive start in Chicago's 31-15 Monday-night victory at Washington, a game in which the Abilene, Kansas, product played on all 66 offensive snaps. The Bears improved to 2-1 on the year prior to hosting Minnesota on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – New York Jets
Willis, a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, was inactive for New York's 30-14 loss at New England. The Jets enter their bye week at 0-3.
