MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2020 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 13 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
Burton, who was signed to the Cowboys' active roster last week, carded three tackles among his 14 defensive snaps and 12 special teams plays in a 30-7 Dallas victory at Cincinnati. It was the most defensive snaps Burton has seen for the Cowboys in two seasons and the second most in his career behind 62 plays for Houston against Philadelphia in 2018. Dallas is 4-9 this season and hosts San Francisco on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Cincinnati Bengals
Finney was inactive for Cincinnati's 30-7 home loss to Dallas. The Bengals fell to 2-10-1 on the year and hosts Pittsburgh on Monday night.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
Lee was in for 20 special teams plays in Cleveland's 47-42 home loss on Monday night to Baltimore. It was Lee's fifth game with the Browns as he began his season with the Lions. The defeat dropped the Browns to 9-4 this season, but they remain the top Wild Card in the AFC with three weeks remaining. Cleveland travels to face the New York Giants on Sunday night.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Starting his 68th-career game, Lockett registered five catches for 52 yards in Seattle's 40-3 runaway victory over the New York Jets. The Tulsa, Oklahoma, native has 81 receptions for 886 yards and eight touchdowns this season. He is tied for ninth in the NFL in touchdown catches and ranks ninth in receptions. The 9-4 Seahawks are tied with the Los Angeles Rams for first place in the NFC West, and they travel to face the Washington Football Team on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
Lucas logged his fifth start of the season and was in for all 63 offensive snaps in Washington's 23-15 win at San Francisco. A sixth-year veteran, Lucas has played in 11 games for the Football Team, which improved to 6-7 and leads the NFC East by one game over the New York Giants. Washington hosts Seattle on Sunday.
Matt McCrane, K – Cleveland Browns
McCrane remains on the Browns' practice after signing with the organization in Week 3. Cleveland lost at home to Baltimore on Monday night, 47-42, to drop to 9-4 on the season, but the Browns remain the top Wild Card in the AFC. Cleveland travels to face the New York Giants on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle is on injured reserve for the Chiefs, but he is now eligible to come off the list this week for Kansas City, which picked up a 33-27 win at Miami. In 10 games this season, Pringle has nine receptions for 108 yards to go along with seven kickoff returns for 247 yards (35.3-yard average) and a touchdown. He is one of only four players in the league with a kickoff-return score this season. The Chiefs currently hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC with a 12-1 record, and they travel for a finale time in the regular season on Sunday when they face New Orleans.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Reed earned his fifth start of the season and came away with four tackles, while he returned a pair of punts for 14 yards in Seattle's 40-3 win over the New York Jets. Reed was in for all but one of the Seahawks' 53 defensive snaps in addition to nine special teams plays. Seattle improved to 9-4 on the season to sit in a tie with the Los Angeles Rams for first place in the NFC West. The Seahawks travel to face Washington on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
In his second season in the NFL, Risner stared his 29th-career game and was in for all 61 offensive snaps in Denver's 32-27 win at Carolina. A product of Wiggins, Colorado, Risner has seen time on 1,806 of the Broncos' 1,876 offensive snaps (96.3%) since he began his career last year. Now 5-8 on the season, Denver hosts Buffalo on Saturday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley, who is in his second NFL season, made three tackles and broke up a pass among his 53 defensive snaps 36-7 victory over Houston. Prior to Sunday, Shelley's highest defensive snap count in his career was three. Chicago is now 6-7 on the season and is just one game out of the final Wild Card spot. The Bears travel to face Minnesota on Sunday.
Reggie Walker, LB - Arizona Cardinals
Walker, who has played in two games this year for the Cardinals, is on the Cardinals' practice squad. Arizona earned a 26-7 win at the New York Giants to snap a three-game losing streak and bring its record to 7-6, which is good enough to currently hold the final Wild Card spot in the NFC. The Cardinals host Philadelphia on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
For a second-straight week, Whitehair started at left guard and was in for all 60 snaps in Chicago's 36-7 home win over Houston. Whitehair, who was injured and also played on the COVID-19/Reserve list earlier this season, has played on 80% of the Bears' offensive snaps in 2020. Now 6-7 on the season, Chicago is just one game out of the final Wild Card spot and travels to face Minnesota on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
Willis carded a pair of tackles – including a five-yard sack – and two quarterback hurries in San Francisco's 23-15 loss to Washington in the 49ers' temporary home, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Willis, who was in for 21 snaps against Washington, has 11 tackles and 2.5 sacks this season in games played for both the 49ers and New York Jets. San Francisco is now 5-8 this season and travels to face Dallas on Sunday.
