MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State senior right-handed pitcher Brett Lockwood signed with the Cincinnati Reds as a nondrafted free agent following the 2020 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

The Temecula, California, native earned his first career save at Stanford on March 6, tossing three shutout frames with one hit allowed with a season-best four strikeouts. Lockwood strung together three consecutive relief outings without surrendering a hit (February 21-26).
His five relief appearances tied for second on the team and he allowed opponents to hit just .174 against him last season.
Over his two-year K-State career, Lockwood compiled a 3.22 ERA in 17 relief outings (8 ER, 22.1 IP). He was 0-1 with a save and struck out 16 batters.
This year's MLB Draft, which typically contains 40 rounds, was shortened to five rounds because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Wildcats ended their 2020 season with a 10-7 record in Pete Hughes' second season, winning nine of their final 11 contests.
