MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2020 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 12 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
Burton, who finished the 2019 season on the active roster for the Cowboys, is on the Dallas practice squad. The Cowboys earned a hard-fought 40-39 victory over Atlanta, a game in which they trailed, 29-10, at halftime. Dallas will look to use the momentum in a road game at Seattle on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Seattle Seahawks
Finney, one of four Wildcats to play for a new team in 2020, saw time on five special teams plays in Seattle's 35-30 Sunday-night victory over New England. Coming over from Pittsburgh where he originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015, Finney is now in his fifth year in the NFL and has played in 61 career games. Seattle remains at home to face Dallas on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – Detroit Lions
Lee, a native of Blue Springs, Missouri, who signed with Detroit in the offseason, made a tackle on a kickoff among his 19 special teams plays in the Lions' 42-21 loss at Green Bay. Lee is in his fourth NFL season, and he went to Detroit after spending time with San Francisco. Detroit will look to get into the win column for the first time in 2020 when it travels to face Arizona on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett was again Seattle's leading receiver as he hauled in seven receptions for 67 yards – which included a four-yard touchdown catch – in the Seahawks' 35-30 victory over New England on Sunday night. A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lockett is tied for seventh in the NFL with 15 receptions on the year. Seattle, now 2-0 this season, hosts Dallas on Sunday.
A sixth-year veteran who moved from Chicago to Washington in the offseason, Lucas played on one special teams play in Washington's 30-15 road loss at Arizona. Washington travels to face Cleveland on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle, who is in his third season on the Chiefs' active roster, was in for seven offensive snaps and 18 special teams plays in Kansas City's 23-20 overtime win at the Los Angeles Chargers. The 2-0 Chiefs remain on the road as they take on 2-0 Baltimore on Monday night.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Reed, a fifth-round pick by San Francisco in 2018 who was claimed off waivers prior to the season, enters his first campaign with the Seattle Seahawks, but does so on injured reserve. The Seahawks picked up a 35-30 victory over New England on Sunday night, and they remain at home to face Dallas this Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner, a second-round selection in last year's draft, started at left guard and played on all 77 offensive snaps in a 26-21 loss at Pittsburgh. Risner, who started all 16 games last season, has seen time on 1,120 of the Broncos' 1,158 offensive snaps since he began his career last year. Denver hosts Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley, a sixth-round pick in last year's draft, was inactive for the Bears' 17-13 home-opening victory over the New York Giants. Chicago travels to face Atlanta on Sunday.
Reggie Walker – Arizona Cardinals
An undrafted free agent signee this past offseason, Reggie Walker is on the practice squad for the Arizona Cardinals, which earned a 30-15 win over Washington in their home opener. The 2-0 Cardinals host Detroit on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair earned his 66th-consecutive start when he lined up at center and played on all 65 snaps in Chicago's 17-13 home-opening win over the New York Giants. The Bears are 2-0 to open the season and travel to face Atlanta on Sunday.
Willis, who went from Cincinnati to the New York Jets midway through the 2019 season, was inactive for the Jets' 31-13 home-opening loss to San Francisco. New York travels to take on Indianapolis on Sunday.
